CAC-Boomerang (RAAF) "Panic Fighter" Photos
« on: September 30, 2008, 05:34:32 AM »
Touring up north and came across the Australian Army Aviation Museum in Oakley by mistake. CAC-Boomerang was on display forming an interesting chapter in Australian Aviation, thought some here might be interested in the photos.

They have 1 at Temora Air Museum, just north of Wagga Wagga, NSW,

They fly "Suzi-Q" once a month along with the rest of their collection.

Always wondered about the flight characteristics of that one. And performance? Anyone?
And thatnks for the pics  :aok
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

A slug, but enough to make trouble...
Wonder about the handling etc...

 :huh Possible "wish list" item?

Nice lookin' airframe. I assume the "spikey" lookin' exhaust was a type of flame suppressor?  :salute

Looks like the illegitimate love spawn of a Buffalo and a P-36.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Can you say that both of those planes are beautiful in an early war sort of way?
