steve

your kids are beautiful, and you seem like a decent guy, my opinion (although it don't mean much) of you has greatly changed,
i have 9 kids, 6 with my wife, and when i read that comment i wanted to reach through the comp, and rip that guys head off, ye he apologized but that don't change what he wrote, plain and simple,

i can only imagine the pain you and your wife has endured, i truly wish you the best and hope and pray you receive all the blessing possable from God.
it seems to me he has blessed you and tested you at the same time.

now when ever i see your name i will think of you and your family.

i am not surprise you have a vet, the 51 could be compared to the vet in a lotta ways

Those new retro cars look like fun, but I have 2 problems with them.

Small windows.  I hate the gangsta look, and the small windows is a sign that the auto makers are chasing that portion of popular culture.  I personally think however that the gangsta look is a fad and the manufacturers are going to see changes in customer preferences as customers in a tight economic environment ditch the whole "hey look at me I'm a kid trying to be baaaad!!!" thing.

Practicality.  Small windows are also impractical, but if I have a back seat then I want 4 doors too.  Newer engine tech is letting us get more power and still have decent fuel economy, but the retro look isn't helping.  A big, non-aerodynamic front end and big 2-door designs just aren't practical.  If I want impractical, I can get a vette :)

then again, I'm that guy who is probably going to get a minivan instead of an SUV because I want sliding side doors and easy to remove rear seats...  Even the crossover SUVs fall far short of minivans like the honda odyssey in terms of everyday practicality.  Yea the minivans aren't nearly as cool looking as the SUV and are worthless offroad, but my requirement for a large vehicle is every day practicality, not towing a huge boat or going off-road a couple of times a year.

I think my vehicle stable is going to end up as a civic for my wife's daily driving, a minivan for any time we're taking the whole family anywhere (we plan on having 2 or 3 kids total), and my firebird or whatever performance car replaces my firebird when it finally dies.  3 cars is totally a luxury but we don't want to give up either the civic (practicality and economy) or my performance daily driver (I sit in it for an hour each day, so why be pissed off by a crappy car every single day?) so we'll end up with 3 cars since we need something bigger for trips and to haul kids around.  An SUV might be nice, but I want better gas mileage and the convenience that you can only get nowadays in a minivan.  You just can't find an SUV that is as big as an odyssey, has sliding side doors, gets 25 or more MPG, and can still tow a small (2500ish lb) trailer.

Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

The look of the windows isn't a "gangsta" thing.  One of the first things that usually happens in rodding is the roof gets cut and shortened to give it a more raked look.  Also, the windows aren't that much smaller than normal.  The look is also due to the doors being a touch taller.

LOL Bronk .. ya .. the viper times around the 'ring are pretty fast for sure :)
0.02 seconds faster.
All that.
I mean .. may as well be miles eh?
I wonder how fast Ron Fellows would be :)

As for buildin a Factory Five Cobra . . they definitely do an awesome kit.
They also have a spec class car for racin 'em ... can you imagine how much fun that would be?

Cobra has a few drawbacks tho .. not an all weather vehicle for sure.
AC and Heater are marginal at best, and Rain .. forget it.

It's old school :)

Today we took the top off, it was 75 out, sunny and a breeze blowin.
Cruised down to the grand opening of Loud Pedal Motorsports in Chandler.
Quite a few nice cars showed up .. nice LS-7 (427) powered early Camaro,
..real nice '82 Vette runnin a 565 aluminum Rat, 13+:1 compression, .850 lift roller, two Dominators on top of a sheet metal tunnel ram,
narrowed 9" with some big stickies tucked up under, even ladder bars :)
I told him that's similar to the drive train I dream of puttin into mine.
Man it sounded nice.
Coupla supercharged vettes, one of the twin turbo guys was there.
Naturally I completely spaced bringin the camera.

I wonder how fast Ron Fellows would be :)now see....this is what i was talking bout a few pages back. when the numbers are THST close, it comes to the better driver, not the car. that was the point i was trying to make with the mustang and camaro numbers i copy/pasted in. i was never tryin to put anyones ride down...unless it's a smartcar, or something like my lil red geo that does 0 to 60 in the time it takes to eat lunch......

It's old school :)i know.....it's not sensible all the time, but ya can build one for cheap(relaivly speaking) and buy a beater for a couple hundred. we're men. we don;t HAVE to make sense with our choices of cars.  :D
there was a guy brought one to atco...a cobra kit, but i think it wasn't a fact. 5, as he had a 427 in it. he had no friggin clue how to drive it, and it ran a 11.2something or other...and he lit the tires off in 4th gear. if i did one though, it'd definitly be a FI smallblock.

Today we took the top off, it was 75 out, sunny and a breeze blowin.why take the top off, when you can get a real convertible, and simply lower it :D

i love those old engines. there was an old time drag meet at atco that i ran the shop race car in. there were TWO thunderbolts, and a yenko camaro. friggin BEAUTIFUL. a couple split window vettes, and a couple big block sting rays.....i didn't know which way to turn to look at em. i DID however manage to forget about em when i got in the race car........

BTW.....J/K bout the top.......<<S>>

One of the guys I autocross with is building a cobra kit car.   I bought a wrecked 03 mustang cobra as his donor car.  He ported the supercharger, put a new pulley on and he said it will have 500+ hp to the wheels.  I asked if I could drive it...he said yes but I think he was kidding. :devil

Let me give you a suggestions:  BUY AMERICAN MADE CAR.  Sure, you can get a Nissan or Toyota.  They have high resale value, good milage but, they are getting to the point of breaking down faster.........
Could you be a sport and tell me why  do they have  "high resale value"?
