we pay extra danger perks to spies that go to rooks on account of the low oxygen levels.

I find it funny the folks who say they are not interested in score... then moments latter are deriding your score and saying your worthless.

By my forth month I had all the tricks in play and tried to apply them to a squad. I kept some notes and passed them on but in the end it made some people very miserable. Score has it's dangers and like the game itself, can also become addicting... so beware.

<S> Tool,

Speaking from personal experience as a squad CO of a group that has played together over ten years, I would contribute that in my honest opinion emphasizing anything at squad level that is score based is like introducing a cancer into your group,  opening the door for animosity & discourse to creep in.

Guys become competitive over kills, & accusations of kill stealing can rear their ugly head.  Flights lose cohesion as everyone gangs the first bandit they see because they are all hungry for a kill.  Fellows will alter their approach to their flights because they are more worried about their score than clearing a squaddie.  Or on the flip side, gents will squabble that their high score flight was messed up because they died trying to rescue a squadmate who didnt fly 'smartly'.

All those events are contrary to my goal of having a group of friends to bs with, fly together with and have fun doing it - the true meaning of being in a healthy, thriving online game group.

Checking score can be a great way to monitor personal progress ( i.e k/d ratio, gunnery percentage ) and HT provides us with all we need to do so in an extensive format, both web based & in game. If you try to change this to a group approach, then as you stated some will find it not their cup of tea, or they cant compete or 'hang' with other squad mates, and people start drifting into different directions.

Scoring is divisive to a group.
Score is the Yoko Ono of squads :)

61 posts and I'm sure just about every one of them was a good one.

Fighter only squads probably would have the most trouble trying to handle score properly and to a varying degree,  base taking squads somewhere down the line.

All in all, what you said is true.

I'd agree with most of what you say Sav.  Problem is, my 80th guys have never found any cohesion despite not worrying about score :)

Here is my version of how to score well. If you allocate your planes properly and keep these things in mind you will be able to better gauge your progress. Some of the tips directly pertain to overall squad score. None of this stuff is really a secret if you choose to try and find it for yourself or ask but here it is all in one small package.

I can't say enough about not letting score take over your game. If your a well rounded player it will happen all on it's own. Taking score to seriously can affect game play and your attitudes and actions toward other players as mentioned will ruin your good time here. Be careful not to fall into that trap.

Someone said that the best players don't watch their score...thats major BS.

All that were mentioned use these same techniques and DO watch there score. Lusche is a score king. AkAk is all about his no matter what he might say after reading this  :)  and so are the rest ...so don't kid yourself. They all watch their score.

Score is an unavoidable part of this game and if you happen to do well others shouldn't wrag on ya because your aim is good, you use more common sense, don't have the skill or time or doesn't fit in with your personality. Some of them just like to squeak about it because they feel like they can't compete as Salvan said might happen. Just because you don't score that welldoes not mean that you are not a good player. Those players just take a much more fun or reckless approach to it all  :lol  Who was it that said they'd crash a 262 into the trees just to get a laugh?  :rofl

I do try and get at least something in each of the 4 main categories.  I'm not playing for rank per se. I do all kinds fo stuff from base defese, interdiction and jabo as well as non-plane stuff to a lesser extent.

Last tour's (104) is comparable and 718 overall.

By base-taking, I'm guess he means be involved attacking bases as opposed to simple milkrunning (his thumb's down).  Of course actually doing the goon/m3 troop capture sure does bump your rank, as does hitting something with a PT's rockets.

So it's fairly easy to get inside the 1,000 mark as long as you do at least 1 thing good out of the 4.>>>>

I missed this part of your post Shane.

I'd be lying if I said i never hit a strat target. To reach the 30's in the main you have to hit at least 3 or them a month and really no reason to go above 6. There have been many times I'd hop in a bomber and go make breakfast or some calls, come back and bomb. The fun part of that is actually trying to get away with it. Sometimes you get caught and have to fight your way back which can be really exciting BTW. Everybody hates ya and they're all out to get you for doing it. I know I'm always searching for those strat target losers :rofl  ;)

The thumbs down part is for the second acct. vulchers who pad their scores to make themselves look good. Those guys suck IMO and screw up the whole ranking system for the people who actually want to see themselves improve and climb the fighter rank latter with some integrity.

From tour 90 to  103 i hardly ever landed. I usually fought till dead, missing major parts or outta fuel ammo. That does not mean i never ran either. You have to know when it's just useless and try to get some separation or alt back, wait for friendlies or whatever. Theres nothing worse than getting ganged to death and sometimes theirs nothing funnier or more challenging.

mid war> 1 f6 vs 5 190 A5's near an enemy base...lasted maybe 7-8 minutes took one, damaged some others. Died with a bunch of salutes  :aok
