OMFG P-39's 37mm cannon suck!

Hey gixer.....maybe Im seeing this wrong . I was looking at your 5bag film. Your second kill is what I have a question about. I'm hoping my computer kept is screwed up or I have a bad download. I viewed the cockpit and slowed the film down to watch the hit on the spit. The cockpit started flashing as if you were firing, so I went external to watch the line up a little better. After the engagement I went back into the cockpit and your round count was the same as before you began the engagement. I couldnt tell what you had fired...the cannon or MG. Just trying to get clarification on which you fired during that engagement.

EDIT: Hprilla and Gunner82 are more clear but your round count stayed the same throughout the flight. I think my download of the film might be bad.

Round counts get screwed up in the films, I only ever use the canon. MG is only for making targets break and chutes

I recorded a flight just now and played it back.

My gun count went down and updated on the screen just fine

Dunno, I've never really botherd to think about it and have just put it down to another film viewer specific bug/feature which maybe only effects some planes and not others? Don't know. But if you like just count the number of times the big gun flashes for a more accurate reading.

Use the offline target command and make a gunsight for it.

In AH1 I made a gunsight for the flakyak with ranged increments out to 2.5k. I used to be able to hit bombers from beyond the range of their guns. If I found lone buffs where I could approach unmolested I would line up on their 6 and match their speed at about 1.5 - 2.0 behind them. Trim for stability and try to shoot 1 round at a time. It was a tedious affair and I would usually use half of my ammo just to down 1 buff. I don't know if it can be done in AHII.

Don't fly the P39 but with the Yak I don't shoot over 200 unless the timing and position is right.

There is also a big difference between the 37mm on the P-39 and the one on the Yak.  The one on the Yak is actually a decent cannon, same cannot be said of the Oldsmobile cannon on the P-39.

Yes but both at close range can blow your girly P38 out of the sky with one hit. It's just the Yak 37mm would destroy the Niki in front of you as well.

Im a bit surprised by the talk of the P-39s 37mm. Go offline and do a .target 600 you will see it puts them dead center. The ROF is slower than the Yak-9s 37mm, but the ballistics are easily decent enough for a kill vs a fighter. Also, the slower ROF enables a few more bursts than the Yak before it goes winchester.
