Yes it is surely a strange feeling typing this post. Swager will be leaving Aces High. I don't feel very good about it and my decision to do this has gone through a long thought process.
First of all let me explain that I am leaving with a great and positive feeling about this Sim and it's community. I've been here a long time and I consider many of you my on-line friends. Friends who share in a major intrest of mine, and that is WWII aircraft.
It has been a pleasure to fly with and against each and every one of you. There are some that I have not agreed with, but I respected your outlook because a different and fresh idea is always good. I had fun each time I mounted up and hit the "E" key. You, as fellow simmers helped make the happiness real and I thank you for that.
With all of your different thoughts and ideas remember to keep HTC on their toes. Do not let them become complacient. This WWII Air Combat Simulation is the best because of it's community. You have the power to keep it that way!
As for JG2, my Executive Officer, Bigjoe will assume the duties as the Commanding Officer (Stafflekaptain) for 3./JG2. JG2 has already been notified of my decision to leave. This was extremely hard for I have been with JG2 since October of 1999. Being part of an elite squadron such as JG2 gave me a feel of belonging. Salute JG2!
My reasons for leaving are simple. I am trying to finish up my Bachelor's Degree as soon as possible. This will take every effort on my part. Flying AH was taking up too much of my time and I was not able to juggle the two. Mainly because I do enjoy taking part in airborne jousting!! This community made it addictive!!
The reason I need to finish up my schooling is my wife is now in her 2nd trimester with our first child. I have to make a determined effort to ensure this will be as smooth as possible for her. So finishing school will help out immensely.
Will I be back? Probably! Hopefully! I will be a frequeny visitor to the BBS (forum). So I can see what is going on as AH continues to mature.
My last day of flying will be 31 Janurary. That's when I will hit the cancel account button. So for the next week you'll see me up there. I may even fly Bishes and Rooks for a night. Thats if you'll have me!
This is an honest salute to all of you for making my on-line time pleasurable. Also a salute to HTC for making this wonderful simulation possible!
