Let the flaming begin
« on: October 15, 2008, 02:57:57 PM »
Ok I need someone to tell me its all in my head.

It seems that after a patch or game update that I can't fly the same anymore.

Example was flying F4u 1a in the ma and normally where a can pull up out of a spit s. the bottom falls out and i hit the ground or like the other night i was fighting solar10 and we were in the downward spiral getting close to the ground when i see him pull up i follow. I am looking up at him and poof I'm towered. I thought i got hit in the face with a 5inch. so i pm solar and he says i inverted and plowed into the trees. What a load of toejamake mushrooms.

this is my thought on it. When I look at my videos of some close fights  I notice that it is only a few mph that makes the difference in a fight. Like in a rolling scissors. So to get better I have to fly as close to the edge as possible. I get to know a plane real well what it will do and what it won't. So normally if  I am close to the ground I know i can pull out based on my airspeed flaps etc.  However after a patch or update is it possible that some minor changes in the programming are noticed because of how close the edge one has to fly to beat some of the other players?

I also notice this when there is what people call lag in the arena. Try the hit something with bullets or again just pull up when close to the ground something that normally is no problem, and you become part of the landscape.

By the way no whining or complaining here. I find after a few hrs of flight things are back to normal just because I have a new reference of what I can get away with and what I can't.

I could also blame it on just a few days off from flying. As 5 mph out or 300 is just about a 2% change.
and i have won and lost fights with much less of a % change.

One more thing it is not just me. I hear on 200 and country others saying i got rubber bullets tonight or " I augured ten times tonight"  when I'm having the same trouble.

Should I calibrate my joystick every time I fly would this account for the problem.

I know several people that would be more than willing to calibrate your joystick.

Rubber bullets is an internet problem. 'I augered 10 times already tonight' is just having bad luck. You have up days and down days. Some days I can hit anything I point my plane at and others I'll empty all my ammunition and not hit anything. It happens to everybody.

I know for myself if I don't fly fighters for several days or don't fly attack for several days or don't GV for several days the next time I do I'm not where I was or where I'd like to be.

It seems like rust builds fast in this game.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Yes, although I haven't been on in a while (taking a break from flying to get back on track with school work and try and keep at least a 3.75...I'll be back around februaryish...) I'd say check your internet, I remember nights where I'd pull off remarkable wins in a F4U-1 (best f4u imo ;)) and other nights where I used a tactic from a popular quote, "Wait till the enemy fills up all of your pipper, then you can't possibly miss!"  :aok

:devil I bet he has stall limiter enabled   :devil

That's possible, stall limiters good for beginners, but get used to flying without it, although, it doesn't give a SIGNIFICANT advantage. Before I took time off, I decided to see flyin with it on again, and I had very little trouble acclimating to it again, and kickin arse and taking names...

I know several people that would be more than willing to calibrate your joystick.

Unfortunatly...  :lol

Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are: You only
need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the
WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

If rubber bullets are an issue, make sure you have V-Sync enabled before looking elsewhere.

According to AH training site. It is not in my head.

1. Firedrgn is just trolling he knows I don't fly with combat  trim.

2. I don't even have to plug my stick in when I fight him. :rofl

GO look under the topic how lag affects game play in AH.  Hammer proves my point. he shows that with lag you can have a 24 ft difference with just 1/100 of a sec of lag. He even shows how to work around it.
I cant remember the thread but either toad or shane says that when he first started to fly others showed him how to fly the internet lag. Basically imagine your opponent in a different spot.

anyway I know that with lag I can not pull up from the ground when normally I would. 24 ft can easily kill you as the ground doesn't give way, for me anyway. Ive seen others fly through the dirt and come back up.

NO biggie still love the game
