I don't know why I even try anymore...
« on: October 25, 2008, 09:14:08 PM »
I seem to be getting worse every day now. I know there arew those times where you will just suck at flying from anywhere from 1 day to 1 month, but I have been getting worse at fighting for 3 months now! At first I thought "Ok, I'm just having a bad tour, it'll get better." Well, here I am 3 tours later and I'm even worse now than then. First I tried what I usually do to get back in the groove, fly the Spitfires and get a few kills. That didn't work. then I tried to just start all over. Go back, read up on air combat, go to the TA and train, and slowly get better at it. I found myself getting worse rather than better.

I seem to be just getting worse and worse, and there's nothing I can do to reverse it. There was a time when I could take on some of the best sticks in the game. Sure I wouldn't have won the fight, but I could have held them off for maybe 2-3 minutes and have a real fun fight. Now, they just get right on me and blast me away.

I thinking of just quitting AHII all together for a while, becuase all I do now is up a plane and get shot down a few seconds later, and I really can't find anything fun in the game to keep me playing. Today I logged on for the first time in maybe 2 weeks (partially because my joystick was in need of fixing, which I failed to fix yet), and only managed 2 kills and 1 assist in 5 sorties, and 1 of the kills was to a pick which I really didn't feel good about doing. I think the longest I ever stayed logged on in the past few weeks in 7 minutes because I just can't seem to find anything to do other than get shot down everyone.

Well, I think that's it, thought I should post this. Maybe I shouldn't, but oh well...

Start drinking more when you play.

Or, failing that, try a different plane. At least then when you die it will be because you're not used to what you're flying and not that you suck!  :lol :aok

Happens Latrobe - is one of those things. Some days I fly reasonably well, others, well, auger central springs to mind. When that happens, I start gv'ing (and die loads - but have fun doing it....) or doing supps runs etc - anything that isnt directly dogfighting. Once I get bored of that, I then up a plane that is new to me - and start learning that.

I'm the worst pilot ingame ya know!!!

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

Yea it happens latrobe...

i wouldn't let it get to you, Just try something new, bombing, Gving, etc. Or instead of upping your spitfires jump in a German plane and learn all there is to it, i promise you i have flown the 190s exclusively for almost 4 years now, learn something new everyday.  :aok

I already fly pretty much every plane on the list, from the A-20 down to the Yak (except the La-7  ). Some I do fly more than others though. I usually don't up a A6M to often on CV attacks, and I just started fly the 190 again.  :salute

Latrobe get yourself a wingman and start working on that side of AH.

You will like how much better the game is with a good wingman.

Latrobe, take a break from dog fighting for a while. Join some missions, do some gv'ing, or sit in a manned ack. What will happen is you will see how others are flying, what they are doing and soon you will think, Man I could have had that guy if I were in a plane.

You are very good pilot and we all have our down times. Last camp I think I started off by crashing into my prey 2x. Being shot down by high alt buffs 2 times. And that was in just the first 5 sorties. Then I finished strong. It happens.  :salute

Oh, if you shoot me down in a manned ack I'm going to be PO'd.  :rofl

Someone posted way-back-when about getting burnt out.  They decided to try something new...take every plane up once til you get a kill in it, then move on to the next.

I've jumped around the list a bit but I'm flying the C205 lately and am impressed with its low E loss in turns and speed.  The cannons wobbled around a lot when fired so my marksmanship is in the tank, bad.

Maybe this will help?

Nah, he said he felt bad about picking, so wingmen are out. :devil

Sound to me like Latrobe needs to take a break from AH2 or find some new inspiration fast. GL  :pray

A sub par joystick will make ALL the difference. GEt that fixed, then make a decision.  :)

I agree with the new controls, before you quit. Even better, build a sim pit, it will change the way you fly and make it a whole new experience. Not to mention it will give you a break while you are building it, but keep your intrest up.

I fly with a mouse. Its not the gear. Kinda makes me laugh seeing so many guys with so much stuff on (and below) their desk just to fly this game.

Try working on your SA Latrobe. Id say good SA is 90% of the fight and the rest is wiggeling your plane.
