Anyway we can get new camo for GV's? Is way too easy to see GV's now (not that I will use them much).

Agreed in a game without deserts it makes no sense for the tanks to be painted tan! Makes em highly visible

Have you took some LSD or whats up with seeing those?
Panzer is like a black dot on a white shirt.

I guess you can't see M3 at all?

Where I notice this the most is when hitting a field with a Panzer (or catching someone doing it). You hit F5 from the tower and GV's stand out like shiney nickels against the terrain. The same is true from aircraft.

That isn't a desert scheme. Take a look into the camo types of German vehicles through the year.

It is probably to bright I'd say considering where it was used, the unit served mostly on the Eastern front after conquering Poland.

There really is no German camo type that would go well with our terrain. The closest would be a more brown/green ambush scheme seen on the Ostwind, but other then the basic grey, grey/white, tan/white, tan  undercoats there is little to choose from.

Hi

Pretty much all German tanks were painted a factory base coat of panzer yellow from about February 1943, crews were issued olive green and redbrown paste which they diluted with gasoline or water then sprayed onto the vehicles for a camouflage pattern. This could leave the vehicle almost totally yellow if sprayed lightly predominantly green and/or redbrown if a dense pattern was applied. Sometime in late 1944 the base coat was changed on several vehicles to only dark red rustproofing primer over which yellow and green would be applied, this was often the base coat on some ambush schemes. Then finally in spring 1945 the official base coat was changed to olive green.  Anyway this whole paint thing was a mess after mid/late 1944 as there were many many variations and inconsitencies with factories using pretty much what was on hand.

However the paint scheme of our Panzers is absolutely correct and representative of what an average Panzer-IV H would have looked like during its service life, as is the ostwind- most pictures of this vehicle show it to have a yellow basecoat. BTW It must be made clear panzer yellow is in no way a desert scheme, it was the standard European color starting Feb. 1943 and lasting well into late 1944.

thanks GRUNHERZ

In that case can we have some different armor? Shermans for a 1:5 chance of killing a Panzer, Tracked Howitzers, or Heavy Turreted Guns for the coast? Perhaps shore batteries that can be stormed, but require a higher grunt count than airfields. That might slow the land grab a tad and make things more interesting in the process.

More stuff to attack!

1:5 change for sherman?

Huh, shermans are quite equal against Panzer IV. Especially the 76mm versions.

With the camo advantage, shermans would be in far better position than yellowish panzers against very greeeeeeenish platform.
That camo surely would be better somewhere around Kursk.

I find depending on what video card you are using will determine just how much a pnzr/flak will stand out.  My current GeForce 2 GTS 64mb (on 32bit, 1024/768) doesn't show up the pnzrs that well.  I can still spot them fairly easily.

BUT, my old Matrox G400 32Mb (on 32bit, 1024/768) let pnzrs stick out like a sore thumb.  I could spot them easy 'cos they shone bright white and twinkled!  I'm not surprised how some guys were wondering how I was spotting them so easy and this was before I was using the F5 view!

Hopefully HTC will add vehicles that are not only better but painted more correctly. A nice dark gray Panther, deep green Tiger or T-34; I can see it. But what moron leaves a tank, in a wooded area, painted yellow is beyond me. Yeah they came out of the factory that way, but I doubt field commanders would have left them that color. Our Panzer IV H colors are off; German Tanks of WW2 has a nice drawing of it. It wasn't yellow, but more of an orange with darker green motling. If they darkened the paint a shade or two they'd have it dead on.

If anyone has that book, the pic in question is on page 79.

The 'Ronson Lighter?' I realize this was not a Panther, but the Pz. IV was superior to the Sherman in every respect save top speed. A Panther (PZ. V) would make Sherman's nearly useless in AH.
