Want to know the secret? I ask. When I open up the hangar on an airfield and all the planes are red, I ask why.

When I'm fighting in Titanic Tuesday and someone says "bombers over TT" I ask what TT is.

When I downloaded a game I intend to PAY MONEY for, I read the training information. I look at the films. I check the forums.

Too bad the majority of the dweebs in this game didn't do what you did and take the time to learn.  If they had the game play wouldn't be in the crapper like it is and we also wouldn't have the myriad of limp wristed timid pilots we have now.

Good write up, Sky. Whether you are new or not shouldn't matter to these guys.

I have been playing AH for 2-3 months. I frequently visited the forum for info, technique, and training materials, but never felt like joining in due the obvious reason.

In fact, out of the few of us in the office that joined up only I, myself, stayed. It's too bad, since we are all WWII enthuse here.

Unfortunately, like many other 'online' communities, some 'experienced' members are unfriendly and down right rude to the new members. My 4 friends decided not to subscribe because they didn't like the clique and some of the chatter. Of course, there are always kids that don't know any better == Nevertheless, the name calling mostly done by the well 'im'mature adults. AH is a great combat sim, kudos on HTC, these few members, however, need to be more grateful of the new comers which allow HTC to grow.

Please don't get offended especially since this is my first and maybe only post here. Only those very few rude members should be offended  :D

People like Sky, whether he is new or not, has proven that he can be a great contributor and active members of the community. Shutting him down by trying so hard to prove a silly point is....  pointless.

Again, great write up Sky. Good perspective on the game and I will enjoy your next one eventhough most likely I won't be posting  :aok

I must say that I find it hard to believe a n00b has reached this level in 5 days:

Just saying.

Far more believable than your self-flatulating posts of how 'uber' you are.

Flying skill in one flight sim can easily translate to another.  Is that so hard for people to fathom? :P

I enjoy reading the AARs. No matter how long he has been flying.

I let the kiddies and chest thumpers whine about his experience.

Shade or not, it is easily possible.  When I started AW back in the fall of '98 I had been flying every single sim I could get my hands on since I was probably 8 years old and had our first computer.  When I finally decided to make an accound and fly, it was pretty easy... the hard thing was figguring out the lag in AW with people hitting you when they weren't facing you and to know when someone actually had you in their sights or not.

My first camp I was averaging more than one kill a sortie and well on my way to addiction... my SA of course sucked and I got ganged just about every hop but I soon learned to read enemies energy states, when to stay in or get out, and what I needed to do in a given situation.

It is not at all impossible to do well quickly in here.  The thing is most players who are new here have hardly ever flown a flight sim, have no idea about WWII equipment, have only a mouse, don't want to take the time to learn and just flat out give up too easily or get mixed in with the horde of least resisitance.

Look at what he wrote here...

"Want to know the secret? I ask. When I open up the hangar on an airfield and all the planes are red, I ask why.

When I'm fighting in Titanic Tuesday and someone says "bombers over TT" I ask what TT is.

He's not just sitting there squeaking and crying, he's actively trying to figgure out the game and putting his experiences in other flight sims to use here.  What a novel idea!  Maybe if other noobs would do the same we wouldn't have a 5+ year learning curve for most to not need to ho every single pass in a lala or be in a 20 plane horde to have any set of balls in a fight...

I say carry on Mr. SkyTiger, carry on... and don't mind Grizz, he's probably all worried you'll be knocking him off the fighter rank perch in a month or so.

But no.. you caught me. I'm a "squeeker" and I magically knew this information. No, I didn't ask CHAPPY and Vermont1 and the rest of my squadron. No, I didn't ask in country chat. No, I didn't read any of the provided information.

I'm just a shade wanting to make you all look stupid by sharing the fun I've had.

I'm done with this. Don't worry about my AARs being such a massive insult to you anymore, I won't write them.

Come to TT. I'm flying a Zeke. Come kill the "pro" or whatever the hell you think I am instead of being a forum warrior.

Skytiger...Don't let a few malcontents ruin your fun. The key point you made and which may explain your fast learning curve is the fact that you READ the help page and gathered information BEFORE you embarked on your one man crusade against the sloppy few that don't yet "get it". Keep up the good work and if you ever fly Bish you are welcome to wing with the False Prophets. :aok

I appreciate the support. I appreciate everyone's support. I walked away for a while and cooled down and made the decision that I won't let a few buttheads keep me from what I feel is a strong part of the game: Community.

And to hork 'em off even further I'm going to start posting videos.  :O

My god.

I'm by no means a "Veteran" of this game, nor am I anywhere near good or well known.  Perhaps that's why I don't feel obligated to call out anyone on any stupid thing I don't agree with or don't believe in, I don't know.  But I sit here and read every once-in-a-while to learn something about WWII aircraft, the game, and to see other's experiences in the game.  These AAR's are entertaining, well organized, and well written (Wtf more can you ask for!) yet people still manage to kill a great thing in the forum by treating the poster like trash.  Thanks to a select few, we may have just lost something that most everyone was enjoying.  Does it affect you if he isn't actually brand new?  No.  Do you have actual evidence that he's a shade?  Nope.  Just because he's doing well isn't evidence enough!  I swear sometimes people on this forum believe in the "guilty until proven innocent" theory.  Stop being skeptical of everything and enjoy the little things that are given to you, life will be much more fun.

SkyTiger, I'm very hopeful you don't let a select few stop you from sharing your AAR's with us.  I love to read them, makes me want to play the game! :) (Also helps me make it through class...)  However, I will say that I understand if you no longer wish to share them with us now.  Hope to see you in the virtual sky! :salute

I must say that I find it hard to believe a n00b has reached this level in 5 days:

Hmm why?

Here's my very first month in AH:
Kills per Death + 1   3.70 96
Kills per Sortie    2.17 54
Kills per Hour of Flight 5.76 609
Kills Hit Percentage 8.14 363
Kill Points 28389.20 183
Kills 276
Assists 89
Sorties 127
 Landed 48
Bailed 6
 Ditched 4
 Captured 7
 Deaths 59
 Discos 3
Time hh:mm:ss 48:47:46
Rank 89

The guy is having fun and enjoying sharing his good times with others and at the expense of no-one. Why be a griefer?  Let the guy enjoy himself.
