In order for the 360 to have a DVD drive(i think) they shrunk the heat rods witch absorb the hear so it dose not over heat the system. Witch caused the rrod(red rings of death). So if you want your 360 to run cool and not melt an intercooler is the way to go. The PS3 dose not have this problem FYI it's only $400.  :lol

I don't understand how Microsoft could sell a console that requires aftermarket parts to make it run reliably. That's insane.

You really don't if you have good ventilation, it's also best to keep the 360 on its side to help with the heating issues.

The EX is the more newer and better intercooler from what Ive seen and read. I think what your referring too is if you use more then one power strip. At least thats what i was reading about. The intercooler as well as having it flat and in an area where it's not dusty and in an open are there should be no problem with it. I may just go talk to the local geek squad at best buy. They may know somthing about it.

Never, ever ask the Geek Squad anything related to computers, electronics or consoles as they don't know crap about anything.  The only thing they are good at is asking how to put up web cam to spy on people, since they seem to be very good at doing that.

As for the Nyko, the Intercooler EX sucks.  Our internal QA department found that the best cooling solution was to put a small fan behind the Xbox 360 and turn it on.

Think he means just blowing on the xbox itself to help circulate the air. My xbox is in the living room, and I keep it nice and cold in there so I don't ever have any issues with heat on it. On a related note. I'm now playing Cod5. We should get a group together and go in as a party tonight.

You Xbox n00bs, PS3 FTW!!!   :D

But seriously, the 360 is a great system if you can deall with its infamous high failure rate. I personally think the PS3 is better, not becuase it has better graphics, better games, or any of that nonsense ('cause the 360 has some nice things about it that the PS3 doesn't have...yet  ;) ). I think it's better because you get it for, what, $400-$600 now? And that comes with Blue-ray, ability to put music on it, and free internet/online access! The 360 is cheaper, but you have to buy all these different attachments to do the same.

One of big things Xbox has going for it is its Live service, I've never owned a playstation so I dont know how their online service is compared to Live. But I've always been impressed with the simplicity of Live.

Im hoping to be getting it here in the next month or so. But i do have some more questions. Should i buy the wireless adapter to play on x-box live? And is there any way to find out if i can get online with the wireless adapter where i live?I have a modem but i dont have a router and i dont really want to buy one.

Thanks in advanced for the help.

no router=no wireless.  I've had my 360 for almost 3 years now.  I've only had to replace it once due to rrod.  Im breaking bass pedals on rock band more often than rrod.  Ack's right place it on its side with a cheap fan next to it you'l be fine.  Anyone excited about this update in 3 days.  Im going to be like hmmmmmm nextflix what do i feel like watching??????
