Yea it is. However, there are two types. One that would ONLY fly a certain sorty in a certain score setting. For example fighter, they'd only fly that when they have an air field w/ low cons to pick or to vulch to maintain high kill per time. Then for every other sorties they fly as attack. That way they keep a high Kill/Time ratio in fighter.

The other type is people that just fly equal number of sorties in fighter and attack and still have similiar kill/time ratio. Usually though attack is always lowers in kill/time ratio because they have more priority such as taking out town etc then air to air kills. Which would lower the kill/time ratio.

I know a lot of people just fly 4-5 vulch missions. Lock in their 18% hit percent, 15 kill/time. 20kill/death ratio and then stop flying it the ENTIRE campaign. Which to me I think it's gaming the game. I look at that stat vs someone who have 100 sorties in fighter and maintain 10+kill/time. That is more accurate of their performance.

Could this be the secret to gaming the game......  :noid

Some of us just fly around in fighter mode all the time, killin stuff.

In my opinion, score means nothing unless you fly a single aircraft series, and its varients, for a full tour or more.

Just how you rate against others is really dependent upon what you fly, and against what you fly, how well you fly what you fly against those flying against you in various aircraft, and their varients, your understanding and execution of BFM and ACM in your aircraft vs others in their aircraft, and how well others counter your moves utilizing BFM and ACM in the aircraft they fly against you.

That's just the fighter/JABO aircraft side (and not well defined).

For the GV, Bomber, Bomber Torpedoes, PT rockets and or torpedoes, GV Capture, Goon Capture...it's pretty simple...but dependent upon how well you can read a map (when and where can you execute safely)...and how much you really want to score well overall...and this is the area where the greatest amount of scoring (i.e. the reduction of score) takes place, overall. How do I know? I've done it.

If you want score to mean something, make it personal.

There are also people that get that high of a kill per hour without having to resort to any of that dweebery you've described and do it through normal game play.  I never do what you describe but yet manage to average 14 to 16 kills per hour.

There are a few guys and squadrons that do that in the MW, guys like biggamer, fireplug and some of the class act guys.

... It means you can cherry pick fighters in a furball with careful glee; it means you can camp an enemy spawn point at point blank range in your Firefly or up a Wirblewind and pluck out an aircraft or two as they dive at you on the Veh base; it means that you can point the 5in ack fun-guns towards the enemy bombers and pull the trigger; and it means you can do bomber milk runs in stukas w/ the 1800kg bomb (or B24's w/ the 4/5000lbs bombs) to cities just after the crack of dawn when there are 2 enemies on.

That is %95 of someone's rank.  The other %5 is actually reflecting of someone's talent.  If this average Joe like me can get a rank within the 90 "best" in the over all category, then anyone can do it.  Sure, some guys are good and I wont hesitate to give them their due, but over all....

Ranks means nothing except it shows that one knows how to work the score/rank angle.  That is it.

I am always impressed to find some guy who ranks in the 500s who really knows how to fly. I never judge a person's ability by rank.

Yep.   We all KNOW who the "good sticks are" regardless of the numerals designating "CV Grabbing Rank" and I don't even consider myself above "Average" in this game.

Vanscrew took 2nd overall in Tour 106 only flying 32 hours.  There goes that theory.  :aok

<insert sarcastic condescending tone here> If anyone ever says "nice flying" to you after a "fight" (wait it's not a fight, it's just a game), be sure you respond with a comment about how it technically isn't flying and is more of just video game skills.  Or if someone owns you, be sure and say "nice video game skills." Never utter the words "pilot" "fly" or anything pertaining to airplanes because it's all fake right?
