M-4 as an uber anti aircraft weapon
« on: December 07, 2008, 08:22:50 PM »
A couple of nights ago we were defending a base that had a nearby enemy vehicle spawn point.  A couple of them upped M-4's so a couple of us upped B-25's to try and hit them with the onboard artillery.  Every time we'd get within 3K they'd shoot us down with their main gun.  We tried climbing but even high over them they could elevate thier guns to get us.  They were also able to get us in crossing turns, not just straight at them.  They have better range than ostis or whirbees.  It seems a little silly since I don't recall any texts on WWII ever talking about a tank used in this fashion.  Thoughts?

I seem to remember a picture of an embankment built with an M4 put on top of it so it could elevate it's turret better and shoot at aircraft. I'm not sure though.

I recall being on the Pizza Map in AH1.   Rooks were defending one of South Eastern coastal Airbases.    I rolled a Tiger and shot down two of LTARaptor's goons in mid air at about 3k.

I miss that map tremendously.

Yea, Pizza Map was a lot of fun.  It seemed to have something for everyone.

Bubi I think the pictures your referring to are of M-4's bering used as ad hoc artillery pieces

Thoughts?

Most of that post is exaggerated is my thought.  Yes, Wonder and I thoroughly enjoyed the slaughter, but you guys made it all to easy.  My first kill on you was a crossing shot at 700 which is a bit of luck mixed up with a bit of skill, but the rest of them you guys flew right down our cannons.  I've lost two IL2s to main gun fire in the last two days.  Does it suck? Sure, but it's also a learning experience as to what not to do.  The first kill was just me being lazy and flying in tree top level just like you guys did(and I thought to myself "well I deserved that" on the way to the tower).  The second kill I thought I had the angle to pull it off and got caught on my way back up, a mistake I won't be making next time.
