Homeboy, come here (SFS stuff)
« on: December 19, 2008, 01:42:05 PM »
Well, at least I did a search first...

I found my old SFS Eagle stick and dual throttle (that crate dealy thingy) with the gameport adapter.  I fly on a laptop and don't have a gameport receiver.

I did some searching on the net as well as here on the forums re: converting my stuff to USB.  I can't tell precisely, but it sounds like it's impossible with Windows XP (akak said as much).  But, I believe I've read some stuff where other folks have gotten it working with some 3rd party usb adaptor- Rob's adaptor or something like that.

So, I have two questions:

1.  Is there some way to plug the throttle part into a usb adapter and get it to work with Windows XP?

2.  If not, I have an extra Saitek X-45, Saitek Av8r, and the Suncom gear.  How hard/would it be possible, to somehow gut the Suncom gear and plug pieces into the throttle to get it to work as a HOTAS throttle (with working hats and switches)?

I have one additional question that I'll send by pm.

See ya,

1. No, as far as I know there is no way to program a stick with a PS2 connection in XP, it was designed that way as a security precaution. If you don't care about programming, it will work, you'll just have to use the programming within AH or set up a dual boot with Win95 (or older) and program the stick from there.

2. I did it already with Homeboy's help. http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,237834.0.html
