Glock 23 might be a good happy medium for her.

My wife shoots my full size USP 45 without a problem of recoil.   May want to check out the Compact USP 40/45.   I'm looking at the Compact too for a CCW.   If I don't go that route, CCW gun will be the Glock 23.

A gun is a custom fit kinda thing. But, for most women a .38 is about as large as they are comfortable shooting. Take her to a gun range that rents and let her find one she's happy with.

It's like flying to relieve stress, she'll kill someone.

On a more serious note, my 14 year old skiny daughter enjoys shooting the 45, and says it's not more than the 9mm to handle. Get her a Springfield 40 EMP maybe?

Tell her sex is a better stress reliever and cheaper, plus chances are she won't kill you with sex if she gets real mad at you.   :D

Wolf,
If money is an issue 9mm will be cheaper in the long run. Sometimes I just want to pull the trigger and hear it go bang. Other times I want to have my ears pummeled. Find out what she wants to do. She may be happy with a 22 and some cans at 20 yards. Catch my meaning?

And even then, that's a pretty freakin' sweet way to die.

Forget the gun, buy her a vibrator instead.

The last time I took my wife shooting she almost blew a hole in my drivers door with a 357 magnum. Ok, it was a light trigger but no I'm not going to try it again with her..  :rock

Did she like the 1911? Although slightly heavy for some, few pistols are as close to ergonomically perfect. Further, there's a lot of ammunition that will make it pleasant to shoot. Shooting light loads is only a recoil spring swap away.
