Arena Cap exemption
« on: December 27, 2008, 01:11:43 AM »
Is there a way that maybe we can enter into the LW arenas when they are full when there is more that 6 of your squad-mates on?

When we have squad nights, at times some squadies try to log in when arena is full.  It gets frustrating so can we creat an exemption?  Squad exemption to be precise of 6 or more?

Frankly, I don't want to see squads to have benefits over single individuals. It is bad enough we have squads with several wings, imho we need to cut down on squad size, not promote increasing it.

Not sure it's benefiting squads over individuals, just enabling squads to fly together.  Before I was in a squad I could've cared less what arena I was in, I had no ties to anyone in-game that I wanted to fly with.

I don't understand, why does it matter that squads have several wings...?  Squads are a great social addition to the game, why wouldn't want to promote them?

I'm not the only person that feels this way.

snip
And if anyone things (thinks)they should be able to have an advantage in number of players on there team with out any other handicap. Then they are blind to basic game play principles of any type.

2nd if anyone else tells me they have a 70 member squad, I think I will just eject them. There is no such thing as a 70 person squad in AH.

Hmm maybe it is time to bring the squad limit down to 16.

Squads are set to be no bigger than 32 for a reason. What that reason is....I don't know, but I like it. We have enough problems with hordes as it is why promote more of them.

As to the OPs idea I don't think its needed. While SAPP is NOT a squad when the call goes out to get a bunch of us together to plan some crazy arnolded idea in the game it is ALWAY started with "Meet in the lowest count arena, on the lowest count team". There isn't any reason why a squad couldn't do this.

Most squad nights have a set day and time. At the appointed time the "leader" of the squad that night should jump to the "lobby" check for the arena with the lowest numbers, and announce on the squad channel that squad night starts in XXX arena in 15 mins. Everyone gets together and has a good time. Keeping the squad under the 32 limit also as the effect of not over balancing the numbers and so locking out the arena to late comers.

If your squad doesn't want to work together enough to fly together, maybe its time to look for another squad.  :aok

Why won't your squad mates switch to blue so you can fly together?

My squad always starts in LW Blue due to 9/10 times there being room.

Instead of asking the SOP being changed for j00!, try and adapting first.   ;)

Because it hard to have lets say 10 in orange, and 2 in blue, for the guys in Orange to drop everything what they are doing and go to blue.  It is easier said than done especially if you have momentum in Orange.  And why should 10 stop what they are doing just to join up with the 2?

The reason why is because maybe the map terrain is not particularily suitable for what we are trying to acomplish that night.

Our squad nights are never exactly the same each time as we try other things and we like the odds on our side when taking a base.

So yes, at times the arena with less people we go their because it fits what we want to do and at times it does not.

Again, depends on the situation.  We always try to go to the lowest #'s but it does not always work out.

There should be a minimum for this exemption: 7,8, 10?  Whatever it may be.

Because you are a squad and flying together is important?  Who is being selfish?  Apparently the 10 in one arena that the two cannot get into do not feel it is very important to have the whole squad flying together or they would switch to the arena where everyone would fit.

So, this topic isn't really about squads flying together but another whine about arena caps in general and the fact that one person cannot get into the full arena that they must get into because nothing could possibly be  happening in the other arena because it isn't full.

Actually, this isn't even about arena caps but about the herding behavior of sheep who must go to where the numbers are without regard for anything else, despite any arguments made to the contrary.
