Sea operation type of thing:
« on: December 29, 2008, 02:27:09 AM »
In reply to this thread, I got an idea, not similar, but I think would be great fun, and a whole new aspect of AHII.

moin

i wish HTC give every squad a battel cruiser under control. the cruisers are built up in the ports. and controlled as our CV groups but only for the squadmembers visible and gun able.
so we get More ship traffic on the see and more see battels.
and the cruiser is named by the squad.
what do you think?

Basically, this is how it would work out:

Regular map, maybe small, (so there's a larger chance for CV to CV action). 4, maybe 5 regular land Airbases for each side. Maybe set each one up to where it can have like a fightertown, and in the center of the country, 1 extra airbase. the other 3 will be for guarding the HQ.

Now, all over the map are ports. The ports have GV spawns to eachother so the GV'ers can have fun too... (please keep in mind, small map, so that way, if you absolutely HAVE to fly your P-51, P-38, Spitfire...etc, you can)

As For CVs, lets lay it out this way:

-There's 20 ports:
10 with only the CV and 2 destroyers

5 with only the CV

3 with 2 Cruisers, and 5 destroyers (think of it as like an attack group, or pair it up with a CV for extra defense)

2 of these, with 2 Carriers in the group, 5 destroyers, and 2 cruisers. These would be the farthest away from any action. Both CV's have radar, so in turn, to kill on CV's radar, the other would still be up. Their ports should probably be by the HQ or somewhere for 1, protection, and 2 so it's farther away, and you have more to risk when you send these into action.

This may be bad for those who like to run lots of NOEs, or even good, for bomber runs, you have a good bit of time to climb out and still bomb stuff from one of the center maps.

Regarding the defense for the Ports, as ports usually have only 1 VH, maybe these could have 2 VH's, as it would be very easy to take the ports otherwise. I wouldn't say though, that these ports have runways. And if they did have runways, they could only fly certain planes, maybe CV planes still for example (short runway)

Looks like someone is having MA fever and is missing H2H. :D

Although it's well thought out, I really don't think this will come to fruition any time soon.

Very well thought out..........  But it sounds like a big code overhaul.  I'd rather get new planes!

Well, this could also be a good time to put in different types of CVs as well. Japanese CVs are lightly armored, but have the most guns. The Brit "Ark Royal" Class or something like that could be the most armored, but least guns. Then there's the Americans, which are... well, American..

Not really, IMO, maybe a new arena with naval battles like the Midway, etc.  Just a matter of changing the rules for terrain editing I would think.  Which is why I suggested a new arena.
Amazing you could actually recruit that much suck into one squad.

Think of this like a chance to get new planes. Never fit to see new CV's and new CV maps without new CV planes. Update the F4F/FM2! Bring in the Seahurricane, Fairy Swordfish, Gloster Seagladiator!
