Selecting a Plane Flash tutorial
« on: January 05, 2009, 12:40:32 PM »
OK, I think I'm pretty much finished with this one. Take a look and let me know what you think. I'm thinking I need a writer, and maybe some one else to do the voice overs   :D The next one I do I'm going to try and use the trainers sites info as my "script" and see how that works out.

Well, Here you go!

Well i really like it because it'll make new people feel a little more at home with the options and everything. Nice job sir and <<S>>
The Corsair's distinctive sound, which earned it among the Japanese the nick-name of "Whistling Death", partly because of the engine sound, that was caused by the wing-root inlets for engine air.

It sounds good, and based on the previous tutorial you made, it should be pretty informative. However, is it supposed to go into the Hangar for the airplanes or is this just a preview? I would be quite willing to write for you (don't know how well I would do.) or do voice over work for you.

Thanks, I'm hoping to do more. The idea is to keep them simple to understand and get anyone going.

I don't understand your question Enker. The posted link is to the whole completed animation. I goes over the basics or

  • clicking the hanger button to get there
  • how to scroll, sort and pick planes and vehicles
  • what the load outs are and how to choose them
  • how to set convergence with a brief explanation on what convergence is
  • how and why you choose the scoring for your sortie
  • how to get your plane or vehicle into the game

I'm not sure what will be next, but I hope to use the trainer site for my scripts, but I'll keep you in mind !

Well, Here you go!

This is a great idea and one I hope will eventually be added to the Help area on the main page and in the AH training section.  I know from creating dozens of training programs, having a training video like this with either text or voice over is a valuable training resource.

Let's be honest, the learning curve is rather steep and even though we do have an excellent trainer corps, a lot of information that new players look for isn't readily available.  Having this flash tutorial will go a long way in plugging the gap.

Hopefully HTC is able to integrate this type of training into the main menu in the game. Many new players don't think to look around the website, and don't realize all the resources that exist.

Murdr can we get this hosted on the trainers site please?

Seriously nice work Fugutive.

A Personally I like your voice. Solid, deep, good enough enunciation that most people should be able to understand it. Granted minor accent, but its minor. It ain't broke, please don't fix it.

B A+ for content, right on the mark. Two thumbs up!

C Would love to see a fugitive answer to "How do I fly with a mouse"?

D Moving fields, and changing country's would also be a great addition to the library, as would setting up text and voice radios. Amazing how many people don't figure that one out.

<S> and keep up the good work Fugitive!

Very nice job!  I would have welcomed this the first time I looked at AH.  This would be nice for first time flyers to this site.  :noid :salute

Excellent tutorial for a new player.  HTC should at least give you a few months free for such high quality work.

Obie

Exactly!

Ideally I'd like to see a series of small animations.

Setting up mouse to fly in AH  (Can basicly script off Schatzi's article)
DOT COMMANDS! Making them work for you.
Basic controls, throttle, (sitting on runway, how do I make it go?)
Basic radio and voice comms, including finding and running sound recorder to test.
How to change country, and move to different field.
Ground vehicle basics
Basic keymapping and stick mapping for dummys. It seems a large part of the people with problems are on laptops, or non standard keyboards. Which just further complicates issues.

Fugitive, given a chance sir I'd keep you busy with this till next year this time.

However ANY aid along these lines is so very much appreciated.
We will see to it that they get hosted and posted where they will do some good.

Thank you!  <S>
