Need help finding something on the internet
« on: January 18, 2009, 11:55:28 AM »
Hello guys and gals :)

I bought a plastic model kit a few years ago and never put it together.  Out of boredom and as an art project for my Advanced art class, I decided to pull it out and put it together.  The only problem is that the instruction manul is missing.  I have all the parts and decals, but no instructions on where things go and in which order.  I have googled every possible term, and I even went to the Revell website and they didn't have the downloadable instruction manual for this model  :huh.  So, my question is:  Can someone help me find the instruction manual as I continue lookinf for it myself.  I would mail/call/e-mail them for another manual, but I need it within a day or two  :(

Model Information:

Revell 1:48 scale Spitfire Mk II (model # - 85-5239)
34 parts, plastic

Thanks in advance! If you need any more info let me know :)

If you google that specific model, there's a few options that come up.

I'd just buy a second one ~ the ones I saw were only about $12.00.  Then use the instruction manual for both of them.  Then your plane gets a wingman. :D

Hobby Lobby, Michaels & those types of craft stores usually has a good selection of models ~ call the Hobby Lobby or Michael's in your area and ask them to walk over to the shelves & see if they have that specific model.  Don't give them the whole story, just give them the model # and ask them to check to see if they have it in stock.  :)

But if you're only working with 2 days to turn in a project, you may be able to talk your Mom into getting it for you. I'd do that for my teenager ~ especially if it meant a trip for me to Hobby Lobby. :D

Being that I'm 16 and have saved up over $3000 on my own by working during the summer, my mom hardly buys me Christmas presents, much less something that I want and don't really need :)

Fair enough. You could always use the picture from the box & wing it. :)

Not likely you'll find instructions for that on the internet

Yeah, I almost did that...  But if i did do that, several features would be missing, as I would take the easy way out :)

Sounds like you have a choice :)

Go get another one & do it properly
Use the box & do it almost properly
Hope that someone on the boards has the exact model instructions they can scan & email to you

Good luck!

The "easy" way out, or the "clever" way out?  :)

Hey, check out the forums at FineScale Modeler.  I used to build models quite a lot before all my stuff went up in a fire and now I no longer have equipment or workspace.

That is an extremely useful and helpful forum and if someone on there can't point you to a place where those instructions are posted online, then someone on there will have that kit and most likely scan and email you a copy.

There is also a nearly unilmited amount of excellent tips and hints and instruciton available there on how to make the best possible model outof that kit.

If I remember right you'll have to register to post, but it's free, so have at it man!

Hope that helps some.
