Hanns-G TilDeath?
« on: January 20, 2009, 10:22:36 PM »
How would you rate these two monitors? and of the two which would you think would be better? or do you dislike them both?

I recently had three major losses (monitors) so its time to buy three more or go ultra high definition.

Never owned one.  But looking  at the specs there is no DVI-D port only HGMI and VGA and the contrast ratio is low at 800:1 for about the same monies but a little slower, 5ms the LG has good specs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005114 or maybe the Samsung, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001276.  This is not my field of expertise but looking at specs alone.  I think the higher contrast ratio out weighs the 3 ms loss. The higher the contrast ratio the better.  Meaning the lightest color white and the darkest color black the amount of luminance between the two colors and the higher the ratio the better the picture.

I woudln't touch Hanns-G, but that's my opinion.  I leave it to the well known companies to purchase quality LCD's.  Viewsonic, Samsung, LG, Dell (most are good, high end ones are great).

I always see Hanns-G and Spectre on the cheapo list on Newegg and Tigerdirect.  There are better brands out there.

Not seeing a problem with no DVI-D if it had HDMI. As I recall HDMI is DVI, but just carries sound as well. On the other hand, I've always set a minimum cap of 1000:1 static contrast ratio on monitors so I would have to say no for these two. Thats just my two-cents though.

Part of the problem in contrast ratio on these monitors is that they are relatively low resolution for thier size.  I'd step down in size.  There are two 25.5" Asus monitors at newegg with the same resolution which will make for a sharper image plus they are brighter, have a better contrast ratio and faster response times.

Bigger isn't always better.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Thank you for the suggestions. TH2Go was replaced without a question but the three monitors are not covered for lightning so...

I could swear I saw a dual dvi-d monitor yesterday but now I cant find it...

I personally would go for anything from LG, Acer or Samsung. The Acer LCD monitors have scored pretty good on the contrast ratio but not as fast as the Samsung ones in the refresh rate.

It is but it isn't.  You would have to use an adaptor rather then native plug in

Not sure about some of the ones at Newegg because of the reviews there its not clear if they all work for the same purpose? I picked up a few extras in case of a problem like I have had with eSata lines.

TilDeath I recommend  http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp for all your cables. I buy all my cables from them for my computer and home theater setups.

They have good prices, great quality, and good customer service. I've purchased everything from power cables to usb cables, and never have had a problem with any of them.

Thanks for the link.  The only cables I generally use at cat5,cat6 and we cut those to the lengths we need.  But I will bookmark the link thanks again

I have a hanns-g  HW191D that I bought to replace a crt that died two and a half years ago.  Best Monitor that I have ever bought.  I still havent had a single problem with it.
