It does not show up in the films.

Well then that would leave me to believe that it definitely is not in the game. You are NOT running the game in win98 mode correct? Under the device manager it shows ONLY the new sound card, and under the display adapters it only shows the ATI card you right?

Thanks for the info Wing.

Install your Sound Card from the current PCI slot to the one underneath your video card.

Thanks for the info Wing.

Kermit

I moved the sound card to all the PCIe slots available and removed and reinstalled the drivers. The only slot I didn't try was the PCIe slot for the ATI video card. I do get pauses in offline practice when I press F12 or the T key, no other key causes pauses.

Any other ideas

I do appreciate all the help from everyone :salute

Could you gather your IRQ info again and post.  So we may see the changes to your system.

In your last IRQ posting, you had your video and sound card on the same IRQ number, so by changing the slots, you changed the IRQ of your sound card to something else which we'll find out once you post your IRQs again.

Hmm, your IRQ isn't changing?  I think XP is overriding your BIOS IRQs.

Try uninstalling the sound card and enable your onboard sound once again.  List your IRQs again so we can see if your onboard is also IRQ16.

Also, when flying online, right click on the map and select I think it's "net status".  Does your variance spike when you press the "T" key?  Does your connection show any delay in the network?  Another possibility is it may have something to do with your network card...

Wing, I am thinking it's either
1)IRQ conflict
2)network card issue
3)or something to do with your Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio.

Will know once you gather more info.
Sorry to bother you but also check to see if your preferred recording device and tell us what's it's selected to.

BTW, good luck in FSO. :)

I have read it all and unfortunately I have not thought of much else to check but just confirm that since you added the new sound card that you also checked that the hardware acceleration is still not at 100% and reboot between tests.

Also in Options of AH go into graphic details and the two sliders at the top (Object Detail and Ground Detail Range) make sure they are both aligned with the 's' of miles vertically and no further left then that.

Describe your microphone to me.

Hardware acceleration is at 75%.

I have messed with all the setting in AH including resolutions.

Mic headsets I have are the Tritton AXPC and the Astro A40

I was able to get the sound card on IRQ18 by moving some fans around.

For use with the SB XFi you should use a straight up headset/mic and not use the USB. If you are going to use the USB you do not need the sound card but certainly using both will cause frame freeze and stutters.

Looks like your problem is from "IRQ 17   Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio"

Likely from USB headsets.  Your headsets are on the same IRQ as your network card.  Each time you press the talk button, your network card gets put on hold so your USB card can do it's thing.

Solutions:
1)Continue using your USB headset.  IF your problem started recently, and you think it happened after a software/driver update for your headset, you can try to "rollback" your drivers first and see if problem is solved.  Otherwise, check for an update driver for your headsets form the manufacturers website.

2)Use a regular (non-USB)headset that plugs directly into your soundcard.  (If your speakers have a headphone jack you can then buy an extention cable (stereo)that plugs into your Mic port (male 3.5mm plug) on the rear of your PC, and run the other (female plug) end near your headphone jack that's on your speakers.  This way you have easy access to both speaker and mic ports.   This is what I do.

If you need any steps in more detail, just ask.

I would go with the straight up headset and avoid the IRQ conflict.
