John wasn't awesome, he IS awesome!  I've watched literally hundreds of hours of him playing live and I have yet to find any concert where he wasn't spot-on perfect the whole gig.  The man is a musical machine!

I remember listening to this one when I was young. Really good traveling song with the whole family singing it.

Grandma's Feather Bed was pretty funny.

For all the disrespect the "Singer/Songwriters" of the past got....

They sure sold a boatload of albums.

Don't forget when his stuff was playing on Top 40 stations he was labeled a "crossover" artist from country.  Only a handful have done that.

fa⋅ce⋅tious   /fəˈsiʃəs/ Show Spelled Pronunciation  [fuh-see-shuhs] Show IPA Pronunciation

–adjective 1. not meant to be taken seriously or literally: a facetious remark.
2. amusing; humorous.
3. lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential, amusing, or frivolous.

To you maybe.

He's made more dead than all of us combined.   Not to mention he was an accomplished pilot.  He also had single-engine land and sea, multi-engine land, glider, and instrument ratings, not to mention ratings for a Learjet.

IIRC, he testified with Frank Zappa and Dee Snider on the issue of "Censorship".

Mentioned that earlier.  I like his music, listened to so much of it as a kid I guess I burnt out on some of his stuff.  But standing up against those a-holes (wasn't it al gore or dan quayle's wives?) against censoring music is an inspiration.

The VH1 movie they made about it was funny too.

Nice to remember Denver, thanks for the thread.
But Lennon being less....naa. JUst different.

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
