The best thing that happened to SRV was a helicoptor crash.

There.  I said it.  I'm glad I said it.  It needed to be said.  I feel better now.

I killed SRV.

Saw him on Austin City Limits.  Went out and bought an album on cassette.  Then he dies.

I still need a favorite, but I'm afraid he'd die.

Robert Johnson wasn't the "start of it all".   Many Blues artists were.

Willie Dixon (Zeppelin ripped him off excessively and were sued on a couple of occasions for it)
Howlin' Wolf (never gets mentioned in threads like this)
Albert King (ooh that fretboard drips of Delta blues)
Elmore James (one of the Best Slide guitarists of all time, if not the greatest.   Sorry Duane but he was better and you were influenced by him)

Leadbelly is my fav. blues artist and was ripped off by many years later.

Personally, Robert Cray is one of the most underrated, rarely mentioned blues guitarists.

Robert Johnson was recording long before and influenced all the aforementioned. But, you're right, you definitley can't give all the credit to just a couple people.

Chet Atkins... wow I had a nice real to real stereo years a go and one of my reals was of Chet. Amazing what he could do with a 12 string.

My others... SRV and Jimi.

Leadbelly was born more than 20 years before Johnson was born.   But as I said, he's rarely mentioned.

It's like the Buddy Rich being mentioned in a drumming post, where he's brought up, but only 25% of them ever actually listened to him.

Do you mean he's miming to a prerecorded track?  Couldn't he have done better in the studio?  If he was just going to lip lync, why not just use one of his records?  Make all the excuses you want, this guy suct.

Psst....  the clue is that this clip is on the Comedy channel.  It's a gag.  Yes, the guy "suct", but it's not SRV that "suct".

But you knew that, right?
