Superbowl Predictions
« on: January 31, 2009, 01:32:01 PM »
Ok a couple of years ago I predicted that the Bears would be the worst team in history to make the superbowl (and loose)
I was right
Last year I predicted that the Patriots would be the greatest team in Superbowl history to loose the Superbowl.
I was right again.

This year all indicators are that the Steelers should win and by no small margin.
But I think they will still win but in a much tighter fashion.
I call it
A fairly close game with the MVP not being among your usual suspects.
Meaning it wont be the QB or Superstar receiver.
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty

My guess is that the Cards will run wild between the 20s but keep coming up short in the red zone. I think if they can score two 40+ yard touchdowns they will make it close and maybe win.

Steelers will be sorely pressed to guard Breaston, Boldin and Fitzgerald ...Pope might just be the wild card receiver. If the Steelers keep Warner on the sidelines with ball control I think the game will turn on defence and special teams.

My prediction is Steelers by 2 1/2 ... high teens or low 20's ... that or a complete blowout by either team.

Now that we can download the commercials from the internet I can be freed up to wax my glider with my wife who is really looking forward to the flying season for once.

This game depends on a few different things.

*If the Steelers defense can contain Fitzgerald, they'll win.*
*If Fitzgerald plays as well as he did in the playoffs, they'll win.*
*If Kurt Warner plays the entire game, and maintains focus, they'll win.*
*Big Ben will get hurt.*

I just hope the Steelers don't get the cheap victory like they did against the Seahawks.  I am rooting for the Cardinals.
forecast for tonight is alcohol, low standards and poor decisions

It really depends on what Dick LeBeau does. If he uses his usual LB blitzes all day to try and disrupt Warner, they will lose. Warner has a quick release and is one of the best (if not the best) in the league at picking up/beating the blitzes. Plus, that'll take guys off of Boldin, Breaston, and Fitz.  The Steelers need to get pressure from just their front 4, and need to pressure Boldin, Breaston and Fitzgerald on the line.

I do not think that the Steelers offense will be able to do much against the Cards defense. The Cards have held the Falcons, Panthers, and the Iggles to under 100 yards rushing. All are very good rushing teams, so Willie Parker shouldn't be much of a factor. I don't see Roethlisberger doing much either.

Is this a year of Cinderella stories or what?  First, the Tampa Bay Rays go to the World Series and keep it interesting, and now the Cardinals are in the Super Bowl for the first time in their existence as a franchise.  That tells me they will lose to the Steelers, but it won't be decided until early in the 4th.

I've paid so little attention this year. When is the Superbowl? It must be close. Every series I watched this week was about Football, Monk, Psyche, and Burn Notice. Did the Bears and Patriots field a team this year?

I'm still waiting for Moray's insiteful NFL observation so I can point and laugh.

But then again I realised he's on the beach in Florida...with Donovan McNabb drinking Mai-Tais.

The SB has been a big party for our household for the past 10 years. This year we have 30+ people coming over. I have 5 TV's set up.
A 42" Flatscreen LCD in the family room.
A 37" Flatscreen LCD in the formal living room.
A 22" Flatscreen LCD out at the spa for guest that want to spa while drinking and watching.
a 37" TV in Son #2's bedroom with Xbox 360 and Wii hooked up.
A 15" TV in Son #1's bedroom with Xbox hooked up.

We don't care who wins. It's more about getting together with friends.
Woot! Can't wait! It's New Years Eve as far as we're concerned! :)  :rock
