I'm working on an archive of everything we flight sim dweebs have made over the years.. From great AARs of any kind (epic scenario events, or 1:1s, or "I go diving down", etc), to songs, to off topic off the wall stuff like Hangtime's cat story(ies), to Naudet's Loose Rivets, to great machiminas like Sanjini's (sp?) etc.  From A to Z.  It will all go on a dedicated website.  Stuff that is too indirectly linked to AH or flight sims past will be included but go on a link-to page.  E.G. those beautiful renders like "1943", etc.

Fire away..

Hey if you check on our page, there is quite a bit of old aw stuff going back to the earliest days.  I'm sure Wraith would have no problem letting you copy any of it.  Stiletto may also still some of that old AW stuff he wrote up back in the day too.  Also on our site are several articles Rapier wrote for AW and the short lived but really pretty excellent FighterAce.  Worth checking out if you have a couple of minutes, and you'll probably find some good stuff for your page.

I might disagree with this quote from the Muskie site...

"Yet only The Musketeers Squadron can claim an uninterrupted, unbroken heritage since February 23, 1990. We are unique and proud of it."

The Damned were founded in '89 and can also "claim an uninterrupted, unbroken heritage".

Thanks for the link...was fun to see all the old handles again. :)

I still have some old AW memorabilia, mostly from the early '90s. Thinks like junk from the 1990 AW convention. I think I still have some of the old FUBAR newsletters around here some where.

Hey there guys.  Just want to chime in here.  At the risk of starting one of those forum flame-fests, I just want to address this.  It may be one of those issues that can't be easily nailed down but, without taking anything from The Damned, I'll stand by the Muskies' longevity quote.  Here's why.

If you visit our About page http://www.musketeers.org/?page_id=2, you'll see that I allude to this probable dispute with the second sentence.  Absolutely true, The Damned were formed before the Muskies.  However, it is our understanding that The Damned have been through several variants, and cohesion interruptions (don't ask me to point them out individually, I have no documentation on that).  However, the Muskies, while formed the following year, in early 1990, can trace its succession of leadership and most of its membership all the way back to that time.  That is why I phrased that paragraph that way.  We recognize that the Damned formed before us, (as did the Turkey Hams, the Warhawks, etc.), but they had some lapses here and there, and thankfully are going strong these days.  Our contention is that the Muskies is the only one of these squads to have maintained its cohesiveness without interruption from that incept date (2/23/1990), and that's why I phrased it as "continuously-existing" rather than the oldest.  It's that cohesion which makes us unique, imho.

Again, not meaning to start a diatribe or extended argument, NoBaddy.  I recognize that whenever one stakes a flag in the ground and says "this is my claim", someone else will disagree.  This is one of those times, and I guess it'll probably stay that way.

Anyway, thanks all for taking time to visit the site.  We occasionally have video "AARs" and such (I'm behind due to the holidays and other projects), so feel free to come on by on occasion.  The Bloody Blade forum is currently having an "I ain't registerin' noone" conniption, for some reason (reg link disappeared), which I'm trying to figure out, but the Blade is a long time Muskie tradition.  You're all welcome to stop by, especially after I fix the login/registration bug.

Salute to all,

Actually, The Damned have been in online gaming continually since 1989. I believe TC and plenty of other folks were in AW until they shut the doors. Plenty of Damned have been (and continue to) games like Ultima Online, EQ, Asheron's Call as well as War Birds and Aces High. Heck, I have no problem giving the Muskies their due. Muskie meat was always very tasty ( when soaked in 20mm for a few minutes  :devil). The only thing I could wish for is to have guys like Athos, Bman, Bushwacker (to name a few) in the game today. Da Muskies have always been a class act and only played 2nd fiddle to us. :D

Hey, Bman is in the game, he just hasn't been up for a while.  He's still very active on the list though, so are a few of the others from wayback.

I always liked you guys going back as far as I can remember too!

How about a big group hug and mutual back patting!!

I have seen TC on the boards here but not in the arena, of the top of my head I don't remember you NB, but that could just as easily be my brain getting older.  It is really great to see old aw folk around. I've only just gotten back online and in the virtual skies  the last couple of months, so it does my heart good to see that it's not all 15 year old kids taking a break from first person shooters now.  I gotta say that I really love this game every bit as much as I did AW.  It's even getting me in trouble with the girlfriend some, so you know it's good!  If you consider addictive good that is.

Glad to hear Mike is still around.

As for recognizing me, well, I don't remember you either. :) I was 5553, joined the Damned in the fall of 1990. While I like AH also, it does lack the camaraderie within the community that AW had. Of course, in those days...the arena limit was on 32 folks at a time.  :devil

TC has some RL issues right now I think. I spend most of my time in MW these days. It reminds me a lot of the early days of AW.

Heya guys.  Yep, NB, a lot of the "old timers" (hope they don't read that part   :uhoh) are still with us.  Madda's is a relative youngster compared to some of the rest of us  :).  Sometimes they just lurk our listserv until a good thread comes up, then they pounce: http://www.musketeers.org/?p=145.  Waxer, Rapier, Bman, Stiletto, Badger, HeBee, Bushwacker, etc, a few others, still on the list.

And in my case, I'm especially tasty quickseared in a light cal bullet sauce, with a side of maneuver kill...   :pray

(still a baby seal after 15 years...)

Thanks guys, keep it coming... If you have any of these or others saved in the format they were at the time (e.g. the old forum format here at HTC), that's even better.  I want these to be as authentic as possible.

Ultima What?! Asheron Smasheron! If there isnt oil, cordite and 20mm it doesnt count!

LOL

What up Carlton/NB!

Is funny, I was mentioning the Damned in a thread the other day re: recognizing flight styles and guessing who was behind the stick and described Mullah's F4u flight style  :aok

I remember 5553 quite well... in my kill column, and erm, being smoked by 5553 quite often as well, hehe. :salute

Moot: I have a, now quite ancient by any standard, copy of a copy of a copy of the 1990 Air Warrior Convention Video in digital format (Thank you again Brooke!!) It is quite large but can upload it to you if ya like.

MIKE!!

Great to see you still around. :)

The flying styles thing went out the window with the on set of "The 10,000 Dweebs". I have pictures from Dayton. I don't think my copy of the video is till around. I think it got a drink spilled on it at one of the Houston cons.

BTW, the "men in tights" games were ok...for about 4 months. I was gonna give up this crap...then Tex talked me into crashing Dale's AH con...been hooked since then. :)

I'm actually relieved that you don't remember me.  If you remembered me but not the other way round, I'd be something of an bellybutton I  think.

I know what you mean about RL issues, I had them for several years that kept me off of online altogether.  I solved the problem by divorcing the issue so to speak.

I haven't ever been into the MW arena, but I'll check it out one of these days.  Maybe I'll see you and we can wing.  I have lots to re-learn all of a sudden and could use all the help I can get.

Do you guys have  a roster of your aw Damned?  I know that I flew with and against several of yas for a long time, I'm just having a tough time pulling names out of the brain.
