You're still accountable to your actions even when intoxicated.  By your way of thinking DUI laws are wrong too.  Unless the cops drugged her (which wouldn't surprise me) she was not taken advantage of.

Ya tell that to the guys that get convicted of rape while sleeping with drunk girls....

Let's not lose sight of the middle ground: what they did was inappropriate, but only worth a suspension without pay or some other disciplinary measure.  Firing them is too much unless it was some kind of repeated behavior.

You guys are taking polar opposite positions akin to puritinism vs the village prostitute.

The officers were on duty and as such had a duty to remain professional in their conduct while wearing the uniform. They did not adhere to that standard of professionalism and were justifiably fired for their inappropriate actions while on duty.

Those cops got hosed. That crap happens all the time. I suppose the crew on my first Coast Guard ship should have all been thrown to the wolves because we had a 6ft x 6ft sign that said, "Show Us Your Boobs" and we'd man the rail holding that sign up whenever we steamed past a beach or a boat with a bunch of women on it, and took pictures when they would.

If a woman is going to act like that she should expect men to act like that. Doesn't matter who it is or where they're at. Skanky women will be skanky women, and men, well we'll just be men.

The only people offended are the left wing feminist and metrosexuals, and the right wing bible thumpers. The other 90% of the population, well we could care less.

If any one of us took upskit pictures, lifted up her skirt, and touched a woman like that while she is drunk we could be arrested for molestation/rape.

Paparazzi do it all the time and get paid for it.

Suspension for a few days would have been enough.

Behavior unbecoming seems fair in that instance and will normally get you tossed in this day and age.

Twenty five years ago that type of thing was a bit more acceptable, but the civilians have to put up with a lot more nit picky stuff these days so I guess whats good for the goose.........

I wonder where the watch commander was.

About her being drunk and abused, it's not like she was passed out on a bench and they grabed her. When you can walk and function like she does on the video, u know what u are doing, so I don't buy the "she's a victim". I understand they are police officer, and thus held to a higher standard, but I've seen/eard similar situations ranging from the military, fire station to a body shop ... no one got hurt/fired, good memories.

You're not serious?  Your drunk girlfriend/wife/sister is in a police station doing stupid things and you're OK with that.  After all, it is her fault.  I'm sure she'd be OK with it the next day as well.

I get pulled over and offer the cop $50 to let me go.  No one saw anything.  He didn't ask for anything.  I didn't really 'do' anything.  No harm, no foul.

I would expect an employee at McDonald's to get fired if they did anything like that.

wrongway

No I am not OK with it.  I didnt say their behavior was great, good, or even acceptable but it definatley does not merit officers loosing their career.  This is a lack of common sense/error in judgement, that is all.  I have not heard anything about the girl filing a complaint or even regretting the incedent.  So, even if I or you are not ok with a girlfriend/sister having this done, it is not up to me or you.  If the girl was for it and does not regret it than no harm was done other than unprofessinal behavior.  this does not merit termination.

Okay, go to your local mall and take some up skirt pictures and see what happens when you get caught. Better yet go up to a woman and grab her bellybutton and try to lift up her skirt. But somehow we think that just because someone does it to a woman who is intoxicated its "okay" or any less of a crime. Hell if you think what they did wasn't wrong do all those things I said to a female coworker or customer and then ask yourself what went wrong when you're cleaning out your desk.

This is no different than drinking and driving.  She knew of the effects of alcohol before she partook; she partook any way.  Intoxication does not change anything.  She willingly participated in the event.  You are attempting to compare the consequences of doing this with a willing participant and with one who is not willing.  Apples to oranges.  The only way these cops did anything unlawful was if they drugged her.

On the other hand this is bad PR for the police and those guys should have behaved in a more professional manner.

Like he said, talk to guys that are in jail after having sex when women who are intoxicated. When people are intoxicated their judgements are impaired. When you take advantage of that they can press charges and question the fact that the sex was consentual. If you have sex when a woman who is passed out is it okay because she knew she was drunk and kept drinking until she passed out? If you take a drunk guys wallet is it okay because he was there and should have stopped you? Saying she "willingly participated" is wrong because the fact that she had been drinking and her judgement was impaired.

Then no one can be held responsible for getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.
