Dar Bar all the way to the ground
« on: February 04, 2009, 11:58:03 PM »
I'm straight-up asking for this. NOT radar coverage all the way to ground level, but having the bar would be nice.

Yeah, yeah, I can hear it now, unrealistic, ground clutter. Well, cockpit display for any kind of radar is also unrealistic for 95% of our fighters, but we tolerate this anachronism to help find each other. Just needs a bit of fine tuning to make it even better for that purpose, IMHO.

If there is some technical problem that makes this wish impossible, I understand though.

P.S. Thanks again for the work on the new water! :aok

If there is some technical problem that makes this wish impossible, I understand though.

It is an adjustable arena setting.

Which is why in King of the Hill you don't have dar bars, but you do have dot dar all the way to the deck.

I would rather they move it from 500' to 200'.

There is something to be said for being NOE sometimes.

neg on this one, flying under radar and terrain masking have been staples of combat flying from WWII to this day, I say leave it as it is.

I think the level should be 200ft (as it was?).  Make it an art and make it so unless one is going over water or completel flat terrain, auto pilot woul dbe near impossible.

Yes, but it is overused and abused in AHII purely to avoid fighting. This is incontrovertible. If you wanted to FIGHT, you wouldn't want a bunch of 110s at treetop level, you'd want fighters with alt. Comparisons to actual practices in war break down when you consider that in r/l there were humans on the ground who would notice if 75 110s flew over at 500 feet.

Maybe lowering it is a good compromise.

hey, noe fliing inst the try to avoid fighting it is the try to start the fight at a new place, did you think about this site of fiew???
I cant see any problems with ouer noe flightmodel.
And im prity sure you will never notice 75 110 if thay are low on the ground if you 1-2 kilometers away there route if the country isnt to flat.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

As much as I may like the potential for reducing the effectiveness of the base taking hordes, its a player restriction and will undoubtedly result in the creation of some other issue we'll end up hating.

Who said anything against hordes? Hordes are okay. It should be horde vs. horde is all.

Team Lemming Kung-Fu decides to attack Team Turkey Buzzard (flying high!) or Team Herd o'Cats. With the dar, a counter-horde can form. The carnage, the humanity, the quagmire. Airplane parts rain from the sky. Hundreds of cartoon letters to the cartoon parents/wives of cartoon pilots are written. "I regret to inform you your boy was sent back to the tower because he was an idiot who tried to HO a 110." Hours of fun for the entire family.

Perhaps I misread your post?

Logically, I concluded that anyone requesting that dar bars operate at ground level would be making an attempt to discourage 30 v. 2 NOE raids.
