It's a culture problem, and the ones leading it are people we know all to well.  Vets... as Shane would say, meh...

Yeah, I was there for about 3 fights then switched to your side to try and balance numbers. But I wasn't flying with anyone.
 :salute

Yeah, I had you and had to break off due to the horde around you.
I didn't know you were flying on our side alone, otherwise, I'd have asked ya to join us.  (Flying alone isn't the solution)
Time's fun when you're having flies.

hmmmm...
People always spouting off about real-war tactics and flying like your life really depends on it...seems like many people in the arenas have decided to adopt that strategy.

No. Trying to kill without being killed has little to do with any arena woes, since it is implicit that one IS actually trying to kill.
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

Its the planes you are flying.

I never have trouble attracting a fight ever since
I started flying a P-40E.  Most players think
they are easy meat.  That attracts them.

If you are in a uber plane at 20K above your
opponent, of course he'll elect to disengage!

Take my advice, fly an A6M, P-40, Hurricane
or P-39.  You'll get into a fight.  Guaranteed.

1 of 4.  A6M and hurri you'll probably just get slash and run to death.  P40 maybe, but it's still slow and more of the same once they realize you know what you're doing and are on their tail.  P39 you will get fights.

Flying any traditional "B&zer" and turning it is the way to go.  You need a moderately fast plane so you can still kill them when they try to disengage and run.  152, Temps, Typhs, P51d, P51B, Fw190s, f4u4s&f4ucs (everyone wants to kill perk planes), mossy, p38, a20, P47's.    You will get fights in these planes.

Ink has it right. Fly against the horde. Last night rooks were  were hording A9.

It was a strange scenario.  I played there for a couple of hours, and saw just one, that I remember, of each of the following: ki84, nik, spit, p38, F4U. It was almost all 51's and D9's. You had to be a little patient, but you could catch one in a mistake now and then. I bagged about 20 hordelings without losing a ship. Mmmm hordelings.

I've found that real real late at night and you can find some descent fights. Banshee5, any of the muppets, Kermie, gixer and a few others  will always offer up some adrenaline pumpin auger inducing mayhem...but again you gotta wait till like 3am eastern plus.

also the use of 200 to set up fights, impromtu 1v1s, impromtu DA sessions, and also staying out of each others way ( and fights) is a great thing, more people should give it a shot. there is a community of players that are dying for this shi@ ( honorable air combat? ) we just gotta make it happen.

I've been away from AH for a week now.  I was gonna log back on tonight, but with all this negative talk I don't think I want to.

Baaaah....no matter if I can find a fight I can always find something to do online.  Flying with friends beats the hell out of flying alone or being board  :rock
