When they say "the battle that saved australia" what do they mean? Is that supposed to look like Guadalcanal? To me, it looked like Peleliu. Looks very very good though.
from the HBO Website: The miniseries tracks the intertwined odysseys of three U.S. Marines - Robert Leckie (played by James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and John Basilone (Jon Seda) - across the vast canvas of the Pacific. The extraordinary experiences of these men and their fellow Marines take them from the first clash with the Japanese in the haunted jungles of Guadalcanal, through the impenetrable rain forests of Cape Gloucester, across the blasted coral strongholds of Peleliu, up the black sand terraces of Iwo Jima, through the killing fields of Okinawa, to the triumphant, yet uneasy, return home after V-J Day
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
It was the whole pacific theater that stop IJ from invading Australia. I think.
I believe that trailer is specifically made to air in Australia, that's why it mentions "Filmed in Australia", the series won't be about stopping an invasion of Australia, it's just saying in general that the war prevented Australia from being invaded.
