The Pacific Trailer
« on: February 13, 2009, 01:32:18 PM »
Found a trailer online for the new Spielberg & Hanks mini-series "The Pacific", it's a 10 part series that follows the stories of 3 Marines during WW2 in the Pacific, looks like it's gonna be as good as Band of Brothers.

When they say "the battle that saved australia" what do they mean? Is that supposed to look like Guadalcanal? To me, it looked like Peleliu. Looks very very good though.

Quote
from the HBO Website:
The miniseries tracks the intertwined odysseys of three U.S. Marines - Robert Leckie (played by James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and John Basilone (Jon Seda) - across the vast canvas of the Pacific. The extraordinary experiences of these men and their fellow Marines take them from the first clash with the Japanese in the haunted jungles of Guadalcanal, through the impenetrable rain forests of Cape Gloucester, across the blasted coral strongholds of Peleliu, up the black sand terraces of Iwo Jima, through the killing fields of Okinawa, to the triumphant, yet uneasy, return home after V-J Day

Man, I never thought they'd get around to this. It was the Combat Theater of HBO Mini-series!

TWO WEEKS! MAN, TWO WEEKS!

It was the whole pacific theater that stop IJ  from invading Australia.  I think.

Did I miss the date because of the awesomeness? Anybody know when?
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Nice, looking forward to this.  Also read just the other day that Peter Jackson is producing a remake of "The Dambusters".

Maybe not the whole pacific theater, but the beginning definitely.

Regardless, it looks really great.

I believe that trailer is specifically made to air in Australia, that's why it mentions "Filmed in Australia", the series won't be about stopping an invasion of Australia, it's just saying in general that the war prevented Australia from being invaded.
