When you downloaded the new drivers they should have installed he Nvidia control panal.  It sounds like you need to go there and do some tweaking.

You should be able to set antialiasing and anistropic filtering to 8-16x.  Turn vsync on and turn on triple buffering.  Set image quality to "quality".  Force mipmaps.  There's a ton of settings in there and you won't get great quality until you play with them.

I also found this in the advanced settings, I am changing them now, I know I know,,  :D  I tried cutting some of it out before using a previous post on how to do it, but I think I ended up cutting one thing off that shouldnt have been...  :lol  There is a healthy respect and fear of doing it again.....

I think we found the culprit.

Idle is at 54%!!!  I assume that is with no applications running, including the game.  It should be at 0%, with an occasional bump to 1%.

Nothing running just IE, McAFEE in system tray.  You still have that list of what not to shut off....

EDIT< Just checked again, now it shows 61 processes and 1% usage.

FSautostart will tell you. Are you using xp?

Mcaffee is a resource hog from what I understand. You can look in windows task manager and to the right it shows memory usage. You can sort by memory usage as well. Give you an idea of what is using the most resources.

Do you have any anti spyware like spybot, or adaware etc? I really think you need to clean your system. Glary utilities is a big help too.

Of course you are welcome.  :salute

Dadguns, you evidently have something using way too much of your CPU.  I have 59 processes running and my CPU usage bounces from 3-5%.  That is when checking it with Task Manager.  Task manager uses about 2%on my system, so my CPU usage is actually between 1-3%, when I don't have Task Manager running.
I'm running Vista Home Premium, on an Acer Aspire E-380.  I am considering using FSautostart, or something like it, myself.  I know this OS is bloated bad, but you seem to have something running pretty tuff in the background.

Dadsguns, let me emphasize this. There's more than just the 60 processes. Like Coogan said. Something else is going on here. I beg you to run spybot and adaware.

spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

adaware: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-Anniversary-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5&cdlPid=10998841

Defragging does not get rid of these things.

Anyone with 60 processes can cut 40 of them without even disabling anything important, permanently.

Of course there are POS antiviruses that create 10 processes alone. McAfee is quite horrible in that sense, I uninstalled the bundled McAfee after 10 seconds of trying from my VMWare box.

But seriously if you have 59-60 processes running you don't need FS autostart you need heavy trimming on your whole computer setup to remove excess waste.

Dads, google Glary Utilities

Free download, solid set of puter utilities that includes fixing registry errors, cleaning up temp files, fixing bad shortcuts, etc.
And much much more.
It is actually 2 sets in one package. Once installed, under 1 click maintanance, check all the boxes, and scan for problems, fix problems, then rescan again and again until you get a scan with no problems.

Then, move a tab to the right,Modules, Optimise and improve, startup manager.
Take a LONG hard look at whats starting when windows does and why.
Do I really need " " this to start every time windows starts?
Plus it has a built in google link, so you can find out whats what.

Once that is done, reboot, and see how many processes you have running.
There is a process manager that is a bit better than the default windows one in "system tools" and like the windows start manager you should be able to google any entry to see if it can be disabled or should be left alone.
This is a sweet set of tools that will fix many many problems especially with older systems that have not been cleaned out for years.

BTW I  highly recommend a complete Hard drive wipe, repartition, and reinstall OS/Drivers/Software at least once a year if you want a truly clean fast running machine.

Ditto. I told him about this. So I'm glad someone is of the same mindset.

Yeah, I won't use MacAfee again... Its a bloated piece of crap...
And it doesn't work for squat.. Heck, its supposed to find and remove
viruses, but I think it actually ignores, or even ADDS some...  Just trash!!!

I use AVG and Adaware on my game machine.. Just because it makes me
feel better to have something to watch my back... They are easy to turn off
when its time to play the game.. And effective at their job...

Skuzzy's tips in the help column on this BB went along way toward
helping my old machine.. XP home, runs tons of sneaky stuff in the
background, that is meaningless to most ppl...  Turn it OFF!!!

If a PC dunce like me can find that stuff, I'm sure you will too!!!

Use this for the above:

This is will help you whittle down the processes considerably.

I always recommend Glary Utilities.
