Need a new laptop

OK fellas wife would like a laptop. all she does is surf the internet and play some internet games. games as in cards and crap like that on pogo.com or myspace. she wants a laptop that will not take 3 days to load a page or a week to download something. looking for yalls idea's and prices thanks in advance

Budget?  $500 should do nicely if that's all she does.

and no sir it wont. she has a $500 laptop from dell that takes a month to open myspace. i think i am taking it target shooting when she gets her new one.

The difference between a $500 laptop and a $600-$700 laptop is very minimal.  There's something wrong with her $500 laptop if it takes that long to open myspace.  Either its infected with Malware or something else.  Or her $500 laptop was $500 6 years ago.

A $500 laptop is going to get to a Dual Core Processor (probably AMD), at least 2gb of RAM, a nice big hard drive for her needs, and wireless.  If you spend $200 more dollars you may get some more useless software, an extra 1-2gb of RAM (which won't matter for her, she'll never use it all), a bigger HD (does she need an extra 100gb?) and a processor that is 200-500mhz faster (which for browsing and documents is nothing).

I'd only recommend spending $100-200 more perhaps if she wanted an extended warranty.

This machine would scream at anything she is ever going to do.  All my wife does with her laptop is Facebook, Email, and shop.  And her laptop is 4 1/2 years old and it don't hesitate at anything she does with it.  She keeps it very clean.  I can't remember the last time she ever had a virus or spyware, period.  She has an old P4 Single Core 2.8ghz, 2gb of DDR I upgraded, a new 160gb HD and 15.4" screen.  Honestly, she'll really never have to use a faster computer for a long time, unless something explodes on hers.

A simple ram upgrade may fix the problem if all she does is browse net.
