Happens every year.

Hey If these sheep are gonna be a long term 'feature' maybe we should not only have a 'Dar Bar' buy also a 'Baa Bar'    :D

Only kiddin!  I do seem to remember these FMD infested furballs somewhere back in 1.03 or 1.04, I think.  The little beggars would molest you on the runway.  Wasn't so much the dying that was the problem, just the friggin nits enjoyed the sheep more than the flying    ;)

Thx HTC i had nightmares about a army of sheep storming my home.  :)
hehe

Seriously though im sure it was fun being on the "sheep side" of the situation, or even looking at it from 10k up but if you was unlucky enough to not be in the air at the time it wasnt funny, kinda sucked to see people loose perks and such. One of us lost 200 perks before taking off and only having 400, thats a hell of a lot.

If everyone had known that you CON dorks were having your fun with us we wouldnt have acted like we did, everyone thought it was a bug. Hell i tried to take off from 4 different bases and died instantly apon spawn at everyone, i think this was happening with lot of people that night.

Although it was great fun flying low trying to land tracking shots with 6x50's on those fast small little buggers, dont think i killed a single on of them  :D

If this game was 'free' i would have no argument.  I sure as hell do NOT pay monthly to see this kind of thing happening.  Just because we werent at the con, were the ones getting shot at, laughed at.  We pay the same as everyone else per month, why do others get 'special vehicles' while we still use the same planeset?  Because they happen to live in the same country as the con is being held?

HTC, you really shouldnt treat your customers like dirt, its not good business practice.

Geez...the whole point of the sheep was to slip in undetected and force you guys taking off to "run the gauntlet" so to speak.  Its just unfortunate that Skurj happened to be over our initial spawn point and got like 25 kills almost instantly when we started smacking into trees at 90 mph.  Had we been able to reach our initial objective undiscovered, who knows how loud the whines would have been.....

I feel really sorry for you individuals out there who cant sit back and look at this whole situation and laugh about it.  It was a fediddlein' con night mission for pete's sake.

Lighten up, Francis....

guiness,

it was a joke that lasted for 2 hours. funny thing that the arena was packed for that time so i figure a lot of people enjoyed it. if you didn't, you could have just logged. or taken off from an airfield away from the front and came and killed us.

oh, and we paid an extra $140 to get the sheep.  :D

heh, just remember all that it's a GAME and not real life. and the sheep fightin back was one hell of a good con mission.  :)

If you fly on Saturday night during the CON, expect to see the unexpected  :p

Its funny that just a few guys get all upset about it, while there were 40-50 guys all up strafing, bombing, or grinding us poor sheep into the turf with their treads, and THEY were having a hell of a good time.

And please.  Within 30 seconds of the time the first sheep spawned (long before we were in position to vulch any fields) someone squealed on Channel 1 about the secret, so when we arrived there were about 25+ planes in the air looking for us, and from then on there was constant "kiilllllerrrr sheeeep jokes on channel 1" or "baaaahhhh sixxxx!!!!"(from both CON guys and guys that were killing us) that should have given people a little idea that something out of the ordinary was going on.

Light up, remember its just a game, and smile   :)

PS: Bloom I don't think so   :( it has to be enabled on the server side, and even offline our FE doesnt' have the proper commands to turn it on.

Okay guys, I know I started this thread by venting on this issue moments after I figured out it was not a bug that was crashing me every time I tried to take off from a front line field and I apologize for that but enough already.  It has been said it was a CON and CONs have a long history going all the way back to the Air Warrior CONs in the mid 1990s of having strange and bizarre stuff go on and yes, I lost a me262 to a sheep on the runway and yes I am clueless dweeb that took over an hour to figure out that it was sheep killing me and that it was a CON night and yes, I lost my composure and posted here. For all of this and especially starting this thread call me king dweeb.

But now with several days hindsight it was FUNNY I have already relayed the story on how a sheep shagged me to several co-workers and its just a game. Even if it ruined somebody else's or your fun for a night, by continuing to beat this dead horse that I brought up, it is just prolonging wrecking/diminishing your fun in AH. Believe me in a week you won't even care except to tell the story of the great Ninja Sheep invasion of 2001.

----

Now next year I am going to the con and I would love to see the Rook Cows versus the Knight Sheep war of 2002. Maybe the Bishops could be pigs?

ghstdancer

there was also a nasty bug at the same time the sheep were in the arena

you'd spawn and immediately be killed if your loadout read 'invalid weaponset' i had to keep switchin between diff planes and loadouts before i could get my 109g10 up with 30mm

that might have been the bug you thought you 262 died to, because i remember you saying you lost it before ht enabled the sheep

Thanks Moose for pointing this out .. I and Aamon originally thought this was a bug and even logged out and rebooted our machines to try to clear it out and make sure it wasn't us. As I said when I then lost a P51 to a strange white dot behind me when taking off and then saw a Ninja sheep buzz past my GV and scrafe a F4U taking off .. well I jumped to conclusions, the wrong one it seems, and the worse side of human nature took over.

I know I shouldn't care about perk points and I usually don't (just use them to fly the F4U-1C every now and then) but I we had just lost 3 buffs to a me262 that I am Fdutchmn were escorting in P51s and so I thought to myself ... only way to hunt down a jet is to fly a jet! So I decided to try the me262 for the first time. When I died on runway with nobody around .. well just a depressed feeling to throw away the perk points and not have the fun of getting shot down.

When then I thought it was the sheep that did it .. well as I said I lost my cool and posted here instead of just sucking it up.

Next year at the CON I will be there and volunteer to be a anti-sheep soldier (ASS).   ;)

As I posted in another thread I laughed so much I had tears in my eyes.  I have a picture of one of my squad mates being blown in half taking off by a sheep with the .50 coming out of his mouth.  I could not have thought up such a good prank.  Myself I get killed so much it didn't come as a surprise to me but I had to just get in the tower and watch as I was laughing so much.

I know how mad some people got but to me it was just soooooo funnny.

I did log that night.

So you guys had a blast of a time that night cool, im chuffed, almost every online game has a convention (in the states 99.9% of the time) and I have and probably never will experience one as I live in the UK.

I can see sheep as being really funny, and good to drive etc, but why sit on a runway and kill hundreds of people taking off?  Surely this is where it has gone beyond funny to down right trying to annoy people?

Well I got annoyed and logged, on a Satruday night, nice one guys, step on others to enjoy yourselves right.

If I could have even GOT to the convention I would have paid the ticket...but hello, there is a whole other side of this planet called Earth and it contains other countries not just the states.  I think some forget this is an international game, thank god people like me outside of the states have to remind you of this!

Also can i remind the people who have never had a job that a weekend is just 2 days long, and 1/2 of my weekend was ruined.

Im not coming back to this thread incase u wanted to post, because after all it was just 1 night, and yes, im still pissed that it happened.
