In 1950, fifty-two full-scale replicas of the original Liberty Bell in Independence Hall, Philadelphia, were built for the Treasury Department and given to each state, where they are displayed in each ones Capitol building or grounds, except Texas' bell. It is displayed in a small copy of the Texas Capitol building on the grounds of Texas A&M University.

Blue Bell....  man I miss that . I can get Shiner here in Yankee land but not the Bell.

I hope they refurbish the Flagship, in the early 80s it was a nice place to stay, by the late 90s it was getting a bit seedy.

From Humble Beginnings

.. barely being able to survive and sustain itself in the early years of the Republic. Hard to believe how far Texas has come from those humble beginnings.

The Texas Medical Center is the largest medical district in the world with one of the highest densities of clinical facilities for patient care, basic science, and translational research.[1] Located in Houston, the center contains 45 medicine-related institutions, including 13 hospitals and two specialty institutions, two medical schools, four nursing schools, and schools of dentistry, public health, pharmacy, and other health-related practices. All 45 institutions are not-for-profit. The center is where one of the first and largest air ambulance services was created and where a successful inter-institutional transplant program was developed. According to the Texas Medical Center, more heart surgeries are performed here than anywhere else in the world.[2]

Well hell, when we were in the 40th, you never told me you lived in Texas.

Plus, Hawaii is just an expensive Texas... minus the name and people...

south padre's beaches comes close to hawaii's on a good day. however on a personal preference, i find the cool blue waters of the pacific more satisfying than the emerald green of the gulf/caribbean. though it isn't even emerald green at galveston/surfside. its dirrty brown! lol!
