wishlist filter
« on: April 03, 2009, 03:18:53 PM »
I propose a wishlist filter.  That is, every proposal for a wishlist item must be viewed by Banshee7 and Wrongway, and if it is for something that they personally don't require according to their own personal style of gameplay, then they can simply veto it and it won't even show up on the board.

Any other names that ought to be on that committee?

Is this another "if you don't agree with me, don't post anything" whine?

I don't claim to be right.  I just wonder if people think through wishes or merely post "B-52" and a link.  Then six replies of "+1".

I think if you want the developers to take the time to work on something, the person wishing for it should put in a minimal effort to justify why the work would be worthwhile.

You want something and think it would be a good addition, tell us and them why.  Support your position.  If others see a different side, or why it isn't such a priority or may not quite work the way the wisher though, then they post.

It's a discussion.  I'm here to discuss.

I contend that most of the wishes are for "uber" rides.  The bestest, fastestes, most biggie gunnededest things a designer ever dreamed up.  Why?  Because they thing a faster, more heavily armed thingy will make them better.

Look at the big picture.  Is it worth the time and effort of the developer to add something new that can already be accomplished with what is already there?  Will a new addition cause more trouble than had it never been added.  Do you really need it in the first place?

Do you ever consider how many wishes Microsoft added to Windoze because someone thought maybe it was a good idea?

Besides, wishing for a nook is just plain silly.

We have to justify our wish to you why?

This is what the op is talking about wrongway. We aren't here to make you happy or the others. We come up with ideas some good and some bad. We owe you nothing as far as doing research. I don't like the b52, b29, and nuke wishes as well. That doesn't mean that the person who is wishing for it needs to have your approval to post it here.

I see what you mean as far as backing up a wish when it comes to how it would effect gameplay. I agree with you there. Simply put this is everyones wishlist not just yours sir.

I'm not saying anything about myself.  Obviously, who care what I think.  If the "wisher", I don't want to say "you" because apparently people take it personally, wants to develop interest and support from the community or any other interested party perhaps show a little effort.  You often get more out of an endeavor by putting more into it.

I'm not discouraging any wishes.  Wish away.  Am I free to debate the wish?  Do I see certain possible drawbacks and would like to point them out?

It would seem that if I do, I hurt someone's feelings(?).

I'm not forcing anything upon anyone.  I'm just putting forth an opinion.  I'm not looking for approval.

I would seem to me that you would try to impress as many people as you can with your idea.

First, if it is well thought out and well presented its has a much better chance of NOT being forgotten by HTC as soon as they click to the next page.

Second, if you stimulate the community with a well thought out idea it will create activity on the boards and bring it again into the notice of HTC, giving them more food for thought, such as "there seems to be a big interest in this, maybe we should look into it".

However, you can keep up with repeating the same old wishes. I'm sure that will generate a favorable response. I'm sure there is some magic number HTC has on a post-it note which reads "on wish list request #7,326 we add the B-29"

It's a wish.

Let me rephrase.  It's a discussion board.  I would like to discuss the wishes.  Otherwise, it's just a list.

And, thank you Fugative.

This is what I've been trying to get across vis a vis wishes.  Make them seem worthwhile instead of throwing everything out there and hoping something sticks.

Wrongway,

If the statistics on a plane do not impress you nothing will.

As a community we each can contribute to the possibility of adding a new vehicle or picking up the ball on an old posting with new information or enthusiasm.  We don't need to meet any criteria to post a wish here other than being a paid member of AH2 and abiding by the forum rules.  Though you disapprove of how many introduce wishes here it will not be stopping any time soon as it is simple and affective.

We trust that if HiTech sees enough interest in a vehicle they are experts at rendering it into existence and tweaking it with followup patches.  Sometimes HiTech posts RFCs (example on the Brewester Buffalo threads).  Sometimes they don't.  Implementing these vehicles in this medium is what they do full time and they are really good at it.  :aok

Wrongway again, if you need to debate things, be convinced of anything or try to answer worldly or personal dilemmas please use the forum built for this: The O'Club.

This is a +2 for:  "If you don't agree, don't say anything."

contribute to, to be an important factor in; help to cause

The only reason I would need to be impressed is as part of the community that perhaps the wisher would like to persuade to his line of thinking regarding said wish.

Granted it's not merely a popularity contest, usually.  I've never said anything on here was stupid or wrong.  I have merely explored some suggestions in a bit more depth.

I'm not the one dissuading anyone from posting or wishing for anything.  I just think a little enthusiasm could be contagious versus "look. A plane. It flies.  It is interesting.  I think it is good."

Just my opinion.

And, The Officer's Club?

Your premise is based on a fallacy.  You are at odds with yourself.  This is OK.  Just the wrong forum for arguing with yourself.

I fail to see where I tell anyone not to wish for anything, in either of those quotes.

Now, I will quote myself:

You left this out of the quote above:
Quote
I just think a little enthusiasm could be contagious

Then there's all of these:
Quote

Too much responsibility.   :O :rock

Mostly horrible in that, aside from an occasional -1, I really haven't come out against anything.  Voiced an opinion that it may not be needed, sure.  But against it?  Who am I to judge?
