You got to TOUCH a B17. Were you able to go inside of it?

I get too.   Yankee Air Muesum has a flying 17, 25 and 47.   I can fondle them as often as I like when I'm in the hangar.

:furious Was that really necessary? :)
The closest I've been to a WWII aircraft was in the Udvar-Hazy center of the National Air & Space Museum. So about 10 feet.

You live in PA. Go to the WWII Weekend in Reading this summer. Lots of flying and you can fondle all sorts of airplanes and ground vehicles. They have a mock up of a French town where they stage a skirmish. It's awesome. Last year they had 2 Corsairs, a P-47M and a P-40 flying in a low alt luftberry. The P-40 even did some low alt high speed passes over the crowd. There is usually a B-17 and several B-25s that give rides too if you have the means. I got an autograph from a B-24 flight engineer that was shot down and captured at Ploesti! Bud Anderson was there last year too. It's a big show that goes on for 3 days every July. Don't miss it!

I had meant to go last year, but I didn't get to. I will try again this year.

I agree with the "if it says air show then you should expect something to be in the air" but the ad does NOT say that anywhere...it says fly-in...and thats exactly what happened.

I go to the Wings Over Houston airshow every year...definantly worth every sunburn and penny it costs. Pyrotechnics from the pearl harbor re-enactment is a must see, and the hundred some-odd planes that are displayed and flown...i think Wings Over Houston is one of the best air shows ive ever been to
It is 2 Cents or .02 Dollars...NOT .02 Cents!

:furious I didn't think such a thing as a bad WW2 airshow existed, today I went to one..

lets see we had a B17, a B24, a SBD, and a goon..  thats it..

and worse yet, on the flyer/program it listed the B24 as a B25  :uhoh

oh yea, and it was all static display.. not one plane in the air, not one engine start up..

I put off going out of town for this. :cry

I plan on being there again this year... even though they seemed to have moved the date up.  Also... what the heck is up with all the C130s?!?!   :rofl http://www.yankeeairmuseum.org/airshow/

No WW2 reenactors?  Could've really contributed to the vibe of a WW2 air base.
