"Don't you love the smell of JP5 in the morning?"

No not at all.

When I was younger I worked for a company that was awarded the contract to clean out the million gallon JP5 fuel bunkers on the US Navy base.

Perhaps the worst job I have ever had to do.  Pay was good as we got lots of "danger bonus".  Every morning and after lunch the foreman would have to take "explosivity" readings and we had to wear non static producing clothing and use hard rubber scrapers on the rust to avoid any sparks. The tanks had been empty a long time but fumes were the danger, not the fuel itself.

Horrible job.  Thanks for reminding me about it.  ;)

Christ...you get to go at 10:15?! Lucky.

Ya know!  School at 10:30am with blackhawks... what next?  What happened to having to wake up at 6:30am and walking to school before 8am, getting out at 4 and walking home?

Try having to go to school at 9:00am and then go home at 3:30pm...

Only six-n-half hours!?!?  Are you in one of those school programs that lets you out early b/c you have a part-time job to go work at?  I remember 8-3:45, and in the last couple of years it got trimmed to 8-3:15.  And this is in LA, so unless there's an earthquake, school is in session (what's a snow-day?).

My parents might of complained about back-in-the-day having to walk uphill both to and from school, but I got the numbers to back my griping up!

I saw somthing similar in home town. There is a golf course next to a middle school and the co worker im golfing with notice this blackhawk  about 200 off the deck banks right and circles and lands on the 50yd on the schools football field all while the kids were standing outside about 30yds from the field.

I get to school at 0730 for a 0800 start, and on a VERY good day I get home around 1530. These last few days I didn't even get to leave campus until 2030.

Yeah, it's 8AM to 3:15 here, but at least 4:30+ if you do a sport.

When I was in JROTC in H.S. I was VERY fortunate enough to get to participate in something like this. We went to a local middle school where the Blackhawk landed and all the middle school students got to stand around and look at it and listen to the pilots. After about 2 hours the students went back to class and a group of us got to actually ride the thing, and I was one of them. We took off and circled around the area, after which they actually took us back to our high school and landed us on the football field. I was lucky enough to get the door seat on the back right side, and as we came in to land the Engineer opened the door and hung on the side of the chopper as we were still 100 or so feet off the ground. I have to say it sure beat riding the bus back.  :D
