Ok guys, list your top 3 planes in each catigory and on a scale of, one to ten, rank your fav from each catigory for (1) speed :uhoh, (2) manuverbility :rolleyes:, (3) survivability :noid, (4) fire power  :t(defensive and offensive). Ok guys leter rip, hit me with your fav planes :aok

You need to look at it this way:

Popularity
vs.
Effectiveness

In a popularity contest, you'll see the Spit 16, P-51D, NIK-2J, and La-7 as the top fighters. In reality (in a virtual game, scary  :uhoh), that will go to F4U-4 hands down.

Best attacker? Well for most popular you'd see a mixed response, but top three would be a P-38L, P-51D, and P-47N/D-40, and this is true, with the addition of the A-20 and other variants of the Mustang, Lightning and Thunderbolt.

Now, the best bomber? There is a few ways to look at this question. Ord, Speed, Defensive firepower, and looks. The B-17G probably takes the cake here as best overall bomber and most popular (closely followed by the B-24J).

Gv? simple. Tiger, in both practicality and popularity. Even through all the whines tankers have put up regarding the Firefly, its still the king.

Im not sure but I am fairly certain that no one has answered you properly. I think your question is poorly phrased and conceived.

Just as in golf where a professional can tell the quality of a golfer by his swing a fighter pilot can tell the quality of anothers abilities by his first turn in an engagement. If the plane does not fit the pilot well the turn will be poor and the ability will suffer.

In WWII the pilots began to see that the ability to perform horizontal turns was the exception of history and a new direction had to be taken to achieve air superiority. So a combination of all of the characteristics you mention had to be achieved in a single airplane. The one plane that meets that goal is the P51 but it is not the best at any one of the categories mentioned.

In AHII my choice for the three categories you mention would be:

Fighter: Tempest
Attack: P47/Bf 110
Bomber: B24

However I must counter that with the exception to the rule. The Stuka is best suited to achieving rank in either bomber or attack mode and is very capable of killing any fighter in the game.

So what is it you are really asking?  :D
