amphibious jeep

I was reading that duce and a half post and that got me thinking about armored cars but since we already have one, I thought about jeeps and how we don't have a manverable amphibious vehicle. We should get the schwimshawagon, not sure how it's spelled but it is the German amphibious scout car, it could carry carry four people if I remember right, a drive, a machine gunner, and two pasangers. It would be more manuverable then any of those already in the game, it would be faster on land, and more manuverable. It would be good for river crossings as they can reach a base much faster then the LVT. or we could add the duck,  not sure how it's spelled or what is't model number is. If you could, check it out and correct any of my mistakes plz.

It's indeed the schwimwagen (swim-car), basically an ordinary kubelwagen with an propeller attached to the engine.
I'm not sure if they were ever used or how many there were produced. But it was a neat little invention

kubelwagen would be a good addition as an axis jeep. schwimwagens werent used off carriers so wouldnt be appropriate for that usage, I suppose there might be some maps where a river crossing jeep might be useful?

of course they weren't used from carriers, the Germans had none, but still, you never know, they might have used them on carriers if they had any. And the DUKW would be a good idea too, thanks you guys.

welded on it.  The same way a GPA did with the 3/4 ton truck.  The ironic
thing is that the NJ State Troopers used a DUKW on Lake Hopatcong about
2 miles from my house before I moved to Charlotte this March.  Like a dope,
I never took a close look at it.

Want a good look at a DUK?  Take a weekend trip to the Wisconsin Dells...  They have DUK tours departing every couple of hours.  Very scenic and all that, but even more interesting if you know what the DUKs really were...

We have them too... I think... I see them driving around the road all the time, but I have never seen on in the water, and never seen any form of advertisement for them... it's kinda weird...

Friendly banter aside, what do you think of my idea, if we get it on carriers it will likely mean a lot more people have dry feet before the base is captured, and I have seen a suprising number of occasions in a map I forget the name of, where an amphibious jeep would have saved a lot of time in capturing bases, it's that one that looks a lot what you would think N. Germany might be in early fall, you know, the one with the greyish ground and small spread out lakes. Also I forgot for any one who has never heard of the schwimwagen, it is armed with a pasanger mounted mg42, so you got that thing goin at 1200 rounds a minute and you put enough lead in the air to kill someone even if you are a bad shot.

I'd like to see DUKs in the game...  The Schwimminwagon seems somewhat less useful, and I can't see one coming off of a carrier....  But I'm all for new things being added to the game.

if they werent used off carriers they wont get in, besides I seriously doubt they were rated for offshore work - what size swell would you want to tackle in one? plus they would only carry 3 troops and would surely be even slower than an lvt, and more vulnerable...

There's a company doing those duck tours in Boston as well.  I've been on it, and it's pretty darn cool.  It's very satisfying to see these old WWII workhorses being used and enjoyed by people in 2009.

As far as the schwimwagen goes, yeah it's too bad they were never used off carriers, but it would be kind of fun.  They would still have to carry only 3 troops though, and be exceedingly weak and easy to kill, and maybe have at most an MG-34 or whatever for defense.  Would be kind of fun though once you got ashore to go flying up toward the town at Kubelwagen speeds.
