It's just polite to ask if a guy needs a hand with a con or not. In a furball that's not aways a option, but in a 2 vs 1 communication can be fun and a challenge.

Good rule of thumb, I always ask if someone needs help before interfering and that is because sometimes they might be low on fuel, or maybe out of ammo you never know.

When your countryman is close to a con in a 1v1, I think it's best to ask before entering into their fight.  Team effort?  Staying out and covering his 6 while he fights IS teamwork.
My pet peeve is to close in behind a con, just about to fire and tracers come flying over my shoulder.  Now I'm thinking "dang, did I miss a con back there?" and I'm set to break, but NO, it's a friendly firing over my shoulder at the con I worked.  I've thought about yanking the stick over and making him killshoot himself, but usually I will just break off and tell them they can have the con, although I am seriously considering letting killshooter weed out the helpful souls who only wanna help me clear my 12 o'clock   :P

Just yesterday, I upped from an airfield with a guy I really respect in this game (who is usually red). I climbed out to about 7-8k and headed toward the fight with him below me. We engaged a couple of enemy fighters. I took the first down and then I asked the friendly if he needed any help. He replied that he was going down and that I could engage at will... I swooped on in and took out the other bandit too... When I saw the names of the pilots I downed, I recognized them immediately as some of the "good sticks" in this game. It was the proudest moment I've had in AH... It was short lived. It was THEN that my ally told me that they were having sub-3k duels.... doh!

I felt so bad I sent out PMs apologizing for the interruption (coming in from ~8k)...

My point is that even though it's not how I like to play the game (I like wingman tactics / base capture etc...) I respect the fact that not everyone enjoys this game for the same reasons I do. I wouldn't want to intentionally interrupt someone else's fun by picking their 1v1 in the same way I wouldn't want someone else to ruin MY fun by laughing at me when a Spixteen's knocking off my ailerons...

<S> Chin up. It's all fun.

Depending who it is, yes I have.

Nothing is better than clearing a friendly's 12 o'clock and letting the one behind him nail him.  :lol

You are all part of the problem. No sense of team.

And I really think this is more about stats and bragging rights than anything else.

I will take help at all times. Every time someone asks if I wnat help, I say yes.

As I get better, I will never get PO'd for someone helping out.

You're gonna sit back and laugh as a teammate gets shot down?

And if it's "just a game," why would you all be getting PO'd at someone jumping in?

I wasn;t the first to get angry here.

Better define sense of team.  Would that be people in certain roles at certain times, maybe two guys out winging in their 38s, with one as lead and one as cover.    Maybe another pair are working as part of the foursome and covering the area a bit behind and west of the initial pair.  Lead 38 spots bogie and rolls in with his wingman covering his six.  At this point lead is shooter and wingman is cover.  The position is interchangable depending on the situatiuon but the communication is there to not get both locked in on one bird as the wingie is covering his lead's 6 while he is shooter.  Maybe the tailing pair of 38s climb a bit above the fight to intercept any help inbound allowing the lead 38 to finish the job.

Sounds like team work to me  It's a lot better then 4 guys all vaporlocking on one badguy in their quest for attaboys to land.  I get great satisfaction from being able to keep a fellow 38 driver clear while he's hunting.  I figure those kills are mine as well if he can fight uninterupted.  And if it reaches the point he wants help, I know he'll ask and I'll come in.

Sounds like team

Boxman is right, it's his dime and he can play anyway he wants to.  He doesn't have to respect anyone else's game ever.  He is free to go after everything and every enemy he sees.  Why he can even follow an already dead bandit 5K to the ground trying to get enough rounds it to steal it.  He's entitled to do all that.
HOWEVER, nobody has to like him, or listen to him, or talk to him, or join any of his missions, or even fly in the same battle with him, let alone help him out when he's in trouble.  Heck, we don't even have to acknowledge his existance in the game or on the forums either.  Don't have to invite him into a squad in the MA, or FSO for that matter.  And no one has to answer his questions about the game, or teach him how to do something, or show him any of the numerous tricks and techniques to win and get kills in the game.  There's a whole bunch more the rest of us don't have to do either.
Yup, it's his right to play the game anyway he wants to and he doesn't have to listen or pay any attention to us.  Let us know how the works out for ya Boxman.   :aok

I have to quote this because I hate the snotty little bananas that say "it's my $15, I'll do with it as I please" and expect that this justifies their nonsense.

Yes, you pay $15 to play this game. So does everyone else, cupcake.

You are not special, you are not unique. Every other person here pays the same amount.

It's about respect for others and the spirit of the game.

You paying $15 doesn't give the 'right' to be a avacado. It gives you the 'right' to access a game that consists of hundreds of other players at any one time.

Players who quote their $15, expect to have me neglect giving you a check6 when I'm watching a red guy close in on you. I want him to ruin your fun just as you've ruined it for others.
Expect me to ignore your calls for supplies.
Expect me to ignore your calls for help when you're being ganged.

Those who treat those around them with respect......expect me to not only give you a check6 when I can see trouble heading your way but also to jump in with you and forget everything else.
Expect me to run supplies if I can do so.
Expect me to jump in and clear your 6 should you need the help.
And most importantly, expect me to ask if you need help before jumping in and shooting up that con near you.

Snotty little bastids, it's up to you what you get out this game. Either way, you shall reap as you sew!

I took Sloehand's post purely as sarcasm.  So, in essence, you got it.
