400 player? Riiiiiiiiiiight. So you're saying IL2 uses less than 25kbps per player?

On my server I used 8-10 kbps per player. You do realize that the Il2 multi-player system was designed to run on 14.4 modems, right? You do realize we're talking about what is essentially a 8 year old game, right?

This is Aces High run by HTC Not some second rate EA game run by..EA.

I've never seen HTC have a problem with discussing other games. And that is one of the things I respect about them.

Very true. +1

8 years ago is not that long ago. AH was beta'ing in 99, if you weren't on broadband you'd have been on 56k minimum.

Honestly, the customer service from HTC is just absolutely outstanding, and something no other game can hope to compete with.

Here's a screen shot of Server Commander, which is used to control the Il2 dedicated server:

Interesting, information about the game and server requirements seem somewhat in disagreement with what you're saying.

And I checked on that server commander, the speed section is irrelevant to what you claim and used for penalizing players with slow connections (in contrast to what you claim).  Oooooops  :)

Perhaps that is why we are seeing this new terrain push? Maybe they are giving it a start to catch up.

Another thing HTC has that few other games have is the fact that it is NEARLY as resource-taxing as games like IL-2, so you have the guys like me, with lower-end computers who are able to compete just fine with you billionaires with your super-computers. That and the customer service. Honestly, the customer service from HTC is just absolutely outstanding, and something no other game can hope to compete with.

Of the complaints that I may have, this is one statement about HTC that I will agree with 100%   :aok

Best attempt of athmospheric perspective (blue haze at distance) modeling I've seen, really makes a difference!  Two thumbs up! :aok :aok

Hardly. That screen proves that you can play Il2 online with less than 14.4 kbps, and that you can run 128 player servers. I I tuned my server to throttle the max allotted bandwidth to 8-10 kbps per player and it ran fine with 30 players on. Wotan has told you that 128 player servers are in use now and gave you an example.

So why and what exactly are you arguing?

Even with the ISDN requirement for 128 players that's only 64 kbps. 64*128=8192 kbps ... Even with double of that, 128 kbps per player, it would be well within the capacity of my 20 Mbit connection to run a 128 player server.

What are you arguing?  :huh
