Percent of Fields
« on: April 26, 2009, 10:14:02 AM »
I wish the percent for win the maps was lower than 40%.  On these large maps they essentially become stalemate situations and get reset on Tuesday.

Since the new trend seems to be to attack the side with the least amount of fields already, resets seem to be much rarer.

Once-a-week seems fine anyway.

Agreed it has become more of a gang war than one with any kind of strategy involved.  If you have low numbers and fewer fields....prepare for the hordes!!!!!

I'm saying keep the large maps, just lower the percent from 40% required to 30% or something.  That way the win the war reset is attainable...

Make it 25% to win. I'm sick of Tagma and Trinity (no offense to their makers). The problem is, the small maps sometimes get reset in a day or less and we're back to another big one. How about 25% to reset the large maps but 60% to reset the small maps. The last time I saw my beloved SMPizza map, it was reset within hours and gone.  :cry

I agree, larger maps should have less percent for a capture  :aok

Large maps don't get won, they get reset every week for titanic tuesday.  If you knew the history of the game you would know they have modified it a number of ways over the years with respect to this issue.  The percent-to-win has been adjusted back and forth, they included 'uncapturable fields', they even once set it up so you could only capture one specific field at a time.

What I am suggesting is a modification that would apply to all sides equally.  I don't see how the modification would 'induce' hordes any more than already happens.  If anything this large percent to win would promote hordes even more, as small scale missions or squad type captures don't result any tangible difference in maps being won or lost.

Apparently the large map in LWO was won & reset a few hours ago. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't it used to be, kill one country completely and win the war?  Isn't that what is being attempted at the present?

I see two countries attacking the one country with 30% of it's bases left while ignoring each other.  To meet the "win teh war" criteria, one of the two "bigger" countries should really be attacking the other "big" country.

At any rate, apparently I needed more  :lol :rofl :lol ;) ;) ;) :rofl in my last post.

I see this fairly often, too. It's not necessarily about attacking the country with only 30% of its bases left, though. That same country is often substantially outnumbered and the hordes usually attack against the least amount of resistance they can find. It's all about avoiding the fight.

This is indeed often true, but I might add that there are sometimes other factors also contributing to this, particulary map layout.

When it's easier to get into a fight/battle at one front than at the other due to terrain, distances between the bases, spawn points etc, players will go for the place they can get into action quicker.
A good example for this is the Trinity map.

So it was, I stand corrected.  I haven't seen that happen in a long long time.

i dont see much interest in winning teh war recently. there certainly seems to be more country ganging going on that there was this time last year.

works great too - you get to fight 2:1 odds with no ENY restrictions. unless your a nit of course :uhoh

No need to change the percentages for capture.  Although rotating the maps even without a win would be great.  Variety is fun!
