NHL playoffs
« on: April 28, 2009, 09:26:35 PM »
Interesting to say the least. Round 1 is officially over and the advancing teams are as follows:

EAST

( 1 ) Bruins
vs
( 6 ) Hurricanes

( 2 ) Capitals
vs
( 4 ) Penguins

WEST

( 2 ) Red Wings
vs
( 8 ) Ducks

( 3 ) Canucks
vs
( 4 ) Blackhawks

Predictions?

I say the Bruins takeout Carolina in 5 games because of the dominant overall gameplay that Boston brings to the table. The Capitals will pullout against the Penguins in a game 7 (the determination of the Capitals is higher then Pittsburgh's).

The Ducks are the cinderella story of the playoffs at the moment after taking out the Presidents trophy winners (San Jose), but i do not see them taking out the Red Wings. I'll say 6 games until Detroit pulls it out. The Blackhawks will put out against the Canucks in 6 or 7 games. The dominance of the Chicago defense will grind the canucks to a halt.

The Pens Caps series will be the best of the entire playoffs.  I say the Penguins win and continue the cycle of ticking of Caps Fans in Spring.

Anaheim over Detroit in 6.           Canucks over Anaheim in 7                    Bruins win cup in 6

Canucks over Hawks in 5.

Bruins over Canes in 5.                Bruins over Caps in 6

Caps over Pens.

Vancouver and Anaheim are HOT, with goalies on fire.
Bruins can't do anything wrong....Thomas will get Vezina and Con Smythe.

Great Vancouver game last night... Chicago had me believing for an instant, with that 3rd period.

One of the best games this playoff.  This series is gonna be rough!  See that kid's face?

Seeing the Blackhawks live is an unbelievable experience. Just imagine 22,000 people who start screaming and never stop. By far the most boisterous fans Ive ever seen. This year was special because it was the first year old man Wirtz "owner" wasn't around. The old man ruined that franchise and till the end didn't allow the home games to be telecast. Well, he croaked, and Now his son is in charge and every home game is on good old channel 9 and every game was sold out at home for the 1st time since I was a kid.

It was the biggest game in town when I was growing up and hopefully the team, one of the 6 NHL originals, will be restored to greatness.

Vancouver is tough but were a team that doesn't quit.
