I think you may be thinking Eagler (Eaglr?), I know he flies the 109E/F whenever I see him.

Yes, I was confusing the two.

In any event, my sincerest condolences to his family.

I met with Eagle and his wife several years ago at the AH convention in Indy.  Along with several other 327th members.  The year before I had taken a trip on my bike and met him at his home near Chicago.  In 2005 I met up with him and his wife again in Milwaukee while on a TDY for an Airshow.  They treated me to a fine meal at a nice steakhouse and we enjoyed the day.  Once again on one of my "world tours" I met up with him at his house and spent the night there.  His sons came by and we all spent the evening yakking it up.  It was shortly after that I heard from him that his wife had passed away.  His wife, Joan, was a very nice person and always treated me as one of their friends.
A couple of months ago I sent him some pictures of Pensacola NAS and Corry Field (an outlying field of Pensacola NAS) to show him what it had become today.  That was the last I had heard from him.
For some reason I was thinking of Jim the other day and asked if anyone had heard from him.  I was afraid something like this had happened.
He was a great guy and a good friend.  He will be missed.
