I must have missed something. I know that in 1939 and 40 the Bismark and Turpitz were the terror of the merchant shipping in the North Atlantic and there was at least one great naval battle with the HMS Hood and another ship but after 1941 I don't recall either one of them doing much except hide out off the coast of Norway? Must have been those Fairy Barracuda's the British were flying.
Those pesky Fairy's.

Germany hid the Bismarck in the best place possible.  It took almost 50 YEARS for anyone to find it.

They hid it at the bottom of the ocean (with some help from the Biritsh).

As for the Tirpitz....yes, that ship was completely wasted.   Germany would have been better off finishing the Graf Zepplin.
