From quite a few posts, I can see why we have the arena split in the first place.

Apparently youre missing the point.......... there should be no reason their squaddies cant follow......... I guess you think its the guy who wants the blue trucks fault for wanting a blue truck?

Theres no legitimate reason

To use your analogy, HTC is providing you a place to buy your car much like Ebay. What is available on any given day is not in the contract, only that he will provide you access to buy your car. Your the one limiting yourself, not HTC.

DMBear, yes I hold to my quote even if the number suck in blue. I may try the DA, or MW, and lately have been thinking of giving AvA another chance. But, if I do stay in the "under populated" arena, I practice my high alt bombing, or GV gunnery... I rally suck at GV gunnery   :cry The biggest plus of flying in the lower populated arena is that it also means there are less people using that "poor game play" stuff I always complain about.   :D

Only one question left to think about....

Other than the powers that be want two arena's for their own reasons. If an arena can hold 600-650 people why would you want to dilute the arena when the customers want to be in the one arena? Isn't that what the customers are crying out for? Perhaps, the servers cannot  handle a 650 person arena and a 300 persona arena?

It raises one last thought...if both arena's could hold 650 people each would they be split down the middle evenly with combatants? If not, why not?

Thinking out loud and trying to understand the unknown.

That's funny.  Last week while waiting for Orange to open up, I recall a 3 on 1 in blue arena in my 109E.  I worked a spit down almost to the water from around 10k.  A typhy joined in to save his buddy and I began on him as well.  Then comes a Pony to complete the trifecta.  You claimed that you had to kill me because I had turned into you, but I don't see how that would have been possible without you flying toward an obvious 2 on 1.  Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with your pick.  It was fair and square, but it also seems to be a perfect example of what you would define as "poor game play".

If your gonna preach it, try practicing it.

only thing different is the map and the numbers. I tend to like blue better in the evening til it gets under 100 then we move top orange. of course we try to start in orange, but it really doesn't matter

As has been said many times and many ways, with out  changing any software we can hold 1000 people in an arena. But until we split the arena, we had put an artificial cap on our growth. People do not have as much fun after a certain number of people enter an arena. We had reached that number and could no longer grow because of it.

Once we split arena, our numbers again began to grow.

Now the thing you do not consider, you want caps at 650 , what happens to the other 100 to 600 people who want to be in the arena that is populated first?

Notice the same problem exists again but just at a different number.

And finally Ren, do you really think we implement something like this to piss customers off? Why would we do something that would be bad for business. But the real facts are had we not split arenas, it is possible Aces High would not exist.

The real trick in game programing is giving customers what they want, not what they ask for.

I like the fact that HiTech comes out here and straightens people out.  Customers are almost always wrong, even if business etiquete says otherwise.

SO you keep playing why?  You have the choice not to you know. Jeez what a bunch of whiners.

Interesting, I just ran a data base queary of the last month Blue has NEVER had more than orange, so I once again call BS on your line of thought. There has not been 1 time when you squad could not have gotten into blue except on TT, when obviously they could be together.

Ok, If this is the case I should instruct squaddies to always log into Blue for squad ops. My Mistake for thinking floating caps jumped back and forth from arena to arena.
Now what about the rest of my post??

If your going to come in here and sling crap around you should be able to back it up. The fun thing is you can sort the score page into "who killed who" and in what. In the past 6 weeks I have killed you twice, once you where in a Ki, and the other time you where in a 38. I have the 38 film if you'd like to see it, it was a huge furball, better know as a pickfest. I couldn't find the ki film, but I tend to clear out my film folder each month.

I don't know why you have to try and spread this crap. I think your an idiot, and you think I'm an idiot. Can't we just leave it at that? We are here talking about the arena caps, NOT someones flying. Stay on topic or don't comment.

My Mistake for thinking floating caps jumped back and forth from arena to arena.

They do, but Blue doesn't have to get full for Orange cap to be raised. The threshold is at 70%. Blue is almost never full to the limiit, that happens maybe once a tour at most, when a map like midmesa is up in Orange ;)

Both arenas are the same, but that's also part of the problem. As long as there is no other real difference, the biggest single reason for players to choose one over the other is: numbers.
Now the golden solution would be to find something, some kind of setup that would offer similar gameplay/planesets but still appealing to different players.. of having a kind of differing "taste", so thta some squads would make Orange their home, and some Blue.
Unfortunately I don't have any clue how that could be done in a balanced way that would really work. See EW and MW...

For now my only idea is: Orange only large maps, and Blue only small ones.
