Doesn't work like that with present technology..... Seamlessly sending players to the other arena..... Or does it?  I think I've seen both "Host Connection Lost" as well as auto tTuesday from Orange.......   :uhoh

On the other hand....  Still Totally SPEIR but, I do like that idea.  If you have (more then 5... maybe even 20) your squad in the other arena, they can vote you in if you're on a low # country.  But at 20, it'll take a country to vote you in, not squad.  Which would be more along the lines of HTC theory.  Your squad says yes, but what if you're feminine sweetheart and everybody can't stand your selfish, crappy, behavior.......  Takes a country to vote you in!!!  Just thinking out loud here... I think this thread is silly and unwarranted quite honestly......  But if the best way to end the discussion is to find a happy medium, this might be a place to start...........      :salute

..... splitting into 2 arena and distributing player as equally as possible when a certain number is reached (like 500).

Another way would be to send the player to one or the other arena without giving him the possibility to choice and making a system of invitation to jump to the other arena (example if 5 friends vote for you go change arena).

saantana: I do not agree that a satisfactory to all is available. It has always been known that you can not please all the people all the time. When some morons insist that they will not be happy until they have only 1 arena there is no way  to please them. Because 1 arena is not going to happen.

Now I do agree that it may be possible to find a better way of splitting arenas. But the option of only 1 arena is non negotiable.

HiTech

Hitech, would setting the two late war arenas as blue Euro, and Orange as a Pac with the plane choices limited to them as a test be a good idea?

Having each arena dedicated to a front will split the population along lines that the players can choose for themselves. Hopefully it would split some what evenly, but still leave the choice to jump from one arena to the other.

Your thoughts?

All it would do is eliminate 1/2 the planes and still have people complain that they could not get in.

That would mean you would have almost all the British and American planes on both arenas, but German and Japanese in only one each. (Soviet planes is a special case depending on whether you include Manchurian campaign or not).

So players flying Western Allied planes can go everywhere, the ones preferring German or Japanese planes can not... And if those can't get into the arena where they can fly "their" planes, the complains may be getting worse then what we have now

(BTW, what about tanks in such a setup?)

Yikes!  You remember AW?  The PAC arena was virtually deserted.

How about..
1-Planes cost less in the lower numbers arena?
2-More perks earned per kill in lower number arena?
3-Smaller maps and closer bases, so lower caps arena will give me the advantage of spending less time travelling to a furball.
4-Automatic login que, so I don't have to keep checking back every couple of minutes to see if theres a spot? A system which will allow me to log on to an arena in a civilized fashion.

Apologies if some of these are already in, I read somewhere (I think in LLogans post(?)) that the automatic queing is already in? Some window icon?

In the end, this is about folks thinking about what is best for themselves or their buddies, and HTC having to think what's best for everyone.

I want to fly with my 65 buddies in my Wing, even though they don't exist, for the country I want in the arena I want, when I want to.  I don't care if it means unbalancing, or that the other people in the arena might be impacted because it's only my fun that matters.

It's simple enough.  Take your squad, set your squad time, go to the LW arena that is least populated.  Check the roster then go to the country that is low numbers.

hmmm,  You can then fly with your buddies, and might improve the fight for everyone!

What a strange, and unreasonable concept that might be.

Hello HiTech,

I don't think there is much of a problem here and people are making mountains out of mole holes, but I thought I'd offer a possible solution to the whining (and possibly better system) while potentially still upholding your strategy to maintain two populated arenas during peak times.

How about a Queue system or a wait time to get into the more populated arena during the peak hours?  This could vary anywhere from 2 minutes wait to 10 minutes wait based on the population and how many people are waiting to get in.  The pilots that Reallllly need to get into a certain arena to fly with their squad could plug themselves into the queue and wait while the pilots who simply just want to get up and fly somewhere would just go to the less populated arena and skip the waiting.  As the population goes down as the night wears on, the queueing times would drop as well.

The downside to this idea would be that potentially a high percentage of players logging on wouldn't mind waiting and all go into the Queue, this of course would drive up the wait time and people would be waiting and not flying.  Even so though, I think a lot of them would cancel out of it and go to Blue.  The pilots that are really committed to getting into Orange (Which are probably the same pilots whining on forums) would wait as long as it took and get in.  Another downside would be figuring out how to make this work for the transition periods, where it's time for one arena to start getting more populated quickly.  And another downside would be having to program it of course and how complicated it would be to do.

Another idea that would help unclog things during peak times:  How about booting players that have been AFK for more than 30 minutes or an hour?  Not sure on the time frame but I think that they should lose their spot if they aren't playing and I don't see any good reason why they should be able to sit in the tower all night long.  I've seen a player sit AFK in the Tower for 3 days straight before.   :lol I don't know about the other players but I'd have a hard time whining about being booted if I was in the other room watching a movie while my game was still logged in.  A small problem to fix that only has positive returns.

LOL.  That was a nicely thrown tantrum.  Your way or the highway I see.

Since I'm the 'fanboy' and clearly don't see things clearly through my rose colored glasses, can you answer my one question?  Why are you still giving your money to HTC and playing the game being as miserable as you are?

I do envy you however in that you can get this worked up about a computer game.   I just can't seem to get there.  I can have fun in the time I get to fly my cartoon 38G too.  How dare I?
