I need some computer help
« on: May 10, 2009, 11:08:22 AM »
I recently downloaded warhammer online but my computer is painfully slow.  I know its not my internet connection because even in the menu, the framerate is extremely low.

I updated my video driver but that only worked a little bit.  I think I just need a new graphics card.  However, when I play guild wars (A much more graphically demanding game IMO) my computer runs like a charm.

So whats up?

500gb of memory, processor is AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual-Core Processor 5000+, Windows Vista.

I think you gave your hard drive size. Memory would be RAM, which would be more like 1 gig.

I have the same PC, but with XP.  How many processes do you have running?

I have the same PC, but with XP.  How many processes do you have running?

At this exact moment, with nothing but Firefox open, 81... all of which do absolutely nothing... I think.  The only ones actually using CPU are dwm.exe, firefox.exe, and task manager.

Want me to delete some?

<<Edit>> I deleted all the ones I thought I didn't need... luckily I dont think I messed anything up... The ones I have left are csrss.exe, dwm.exe,explorer.exe(which I learned the hard way never to delete),firefox.exe, rundll32.exe, schtasks.exe, taskeng.exe, taskmgr.exe, winlogon.exe

Those are the ones that are showing, but I still have 58 processes up... with only 9 visible.
Still no noticeable difference.

58 is still a lot of processes. Granted its vista.

But in XP I typically get to low 20's before I consider myself set and ready to fly.
