Vegas Pro 9 and JPG problem?

Hi all,
I'm getting an error "None of the files dropped on Vegas Pro could be opened" when I try to add a JPG to my timeline...I've googled and googled but I've found no answers.

Convert to a bmp, see if that helps.

I've tried JPG, JPEG, PNG, and BMP
