« on: May 30, 2009, 08:41:20 PM »
OK..did an Fdisc on the old HDD..I am currently running SP2 ONLY...Will give it a week or 2 before moving up and updating to SP3..Want to see how the x52 runs..I.e. if it loses calibration and some other things..

DID NOT do anything for my visual anomalies in-game though... :cry

If you are getting stuff like game anomalies and losing profiles etc. you very likely have some hardware component bad and just clinging to life.

I dont think so ripley..the build is about a year old..stable in all other ways..

My X52 has NOT uncalibrated or ONE light flickered since yesterday and being in-game for hours.the problem isnt losing profiles, the problem is like many others who use x52's...losing calibration.

I am using the CCC but will be switching to ray adams tools sometime today..

OK,played pretty much all day,and NOT ONE blink on the x52...ran like a champ as opposed to how it has been since updating to SP3 some time ago...actually about a year ago I believe..usually blinks quite a few times a day..

I may not go more than a week without updating to SP3,as I am pretty limited in where I can go online..Now granted,it may of been something else other than SP3 which was causing my 52 to uncalibrate. Will know in a few days when I do update to SP3..

The game has been running pretty good.still getting polygons and black rectangles crawling along the tops of "SET" features like, hangars and town buildings, which go away and stop as I get closer to them...

I've never installed SP3 and would be shocked if SP3 is your actual culprit.

I used to have an X52 and now have a CH Fighterstick.   I'll never recommend Saitek products to anyone.   It's probably your pots on the stick that are dirty.   My stick didn't last 6 months before the throttle axis was broken, buttons (trigger included) stopped working.

The only pot on the X52 is the twisty rudder control.  Everything else is controlled with optical sensors.

While I've heard of a few people with calibration issues on these, I personally have only calibrated my stick twice.  The first when I installed it almost two years ago, and the second after I reinstalled Windows 5 months ago.

This is with XP Professional, 32 bit using a powered USB hub.

I have heard that some people have problems with the cable coming slightly unplugged at the back of the stick or throttle, although that's never been an issue for me...

On the X52 Pro.   Not the "x52" as he stated.

How do you like the CH stick mashburn and witch model do you have?
I have almost always used a Xtreem 3d pro.....
there cheap and work pretty well but i am tempted by the CH.

I wont put the green out for an X52....
2 reasons.....looks like cheap krap
and i always hear bad things...

I'm pissed I never went to this stick sooner.   :rock  After going through 3 X45's in 3 years and the X52, this stick has been great!

OK..update ...

Since I went back to SP2 on windows XP,have not had one light even try to flicker..been rock solid.."KNOCK ON WOOD"...

I will be installing SP3 in the next day or so,and will let you know what comes of it..

 I was having flicker EVERYDAY,and calibration issues everyday..Even when I F-disced about 6 months ago,installed SP3,installed x52,within 24 hours,calibration issues..This time I have waited and no calibration issues what-so-ever...
