Idea. Tell me what ya think...

My idea basically revolves round the perk system. Instead of just being able to use an aircraft with the perk points. What about if you actually bought aircraft? If each person could buy the aircraft that they wanted if they had enough perk points and keep it in a virtual hanger.

If the aircraft was damaged on the last mission you could have a system by which you can choose to repair certain parts of the aircraft before the next mission or just not be able to fly it at all.

For example:

1) I take my B29 on a bombing mission to A1. I get shot up by Ghosth in his LA5 on the way back and loose my left side flaps, aileron and one of my engines and also put a hole in the fuel tank.

2) I manage to land the aircraft and exit safely.

3) My aircraft then goes back to the virtual hanger where I then have a choice of what to do. I can choose what to repair first. So I can repair the fuel tank (5 perk points) the engine (6 perk points) and the aileron (2 perk points) But I don't have enough points to do the flaps. The aircraft is flyable but not at full strength.

4) I then have a choice to fly it again or to leave it in the hanger and fly another one of my aircraft. (either perk plane or none perk plane)

Do you guys get what I am talking about?

Well it certainly lets the player feel he has something.  It adds a personal touch.  Now if we can add some skin/colouring options to the aircraft as well.....

Betown... this is a great idea, and I am sure HT will give it a good look.  BUT givem time!!  I am sure we will see a response once the HT offices get a chance to relax AFTER the 1.05 release has been debugged.

Ya, you might want to bump this back up after 1.05 and any subsequent patches are out, I don't imagine they're doing much besides busting their butts on it til then.

GREAT IDEA!  I'm American, so please make sure my vote is counted correctly!  

Being an American, I also know that many people would end up having their own VIRTUAL SCRAPYARD of DAMAGED PLANES, like they actually have in real life with cars.  I know I'd want to be able to walk around in my aircraft junkyard taking pieces from an old B-29 I cracked up landing for my new B-29 which merely needs a new engine.  That way I'd only have to pay PPs (perk points) to store my virtual wrecks.   That would be cheaper than having to buy new parts.  Of course, you could only salvage your plane if you made it back to your base.

Betown, your idea works in so many ways.  One real nasty situation it helps solve is the case of a B-29, which has been slightly damaged by ack so it cant lower it's right landing gear.  Now a good pilot should be able to get it down with just damage to the right wingtip and the 3 & 4 engines.  Without this salvage rule, it can't be "recycled".
